June 2016

Goodbye June!

It's hard to believe that it's the end of June already!  That means tomorrow is a whole new month.  I got in a good walk today, but I was so hot when I got home I felt like dying.  Today was cardio day on the calendar. YIKES! lol So, I get home and only relax for a few before getting into my workouts.  Did I mention the #100burpeeburnout was on today's calendar? Yeah, I made it through!

So I got my workouts done, ate lunch, and then went out with the weed eater.  My friend got to come and get most of the front lawn done. Yay!  I only had the parts where it's unsafe / impossible to use the riding mower.  I got those done after what seemed like forever.  My weed eater was being bitchy!  I finally got that done and came in to cool off for a little bit.

I went up to my friend's house to pick up a dog crate. I'm dog sitting their pups tomorrow.  I spend a little time up there since they'll be gone all weekend.  I came home, ate dinner, and then just did a little straightening up.  I am now relaxing a bit.  I realized I hadn't posted to either of my blogs today, so I'm doing that now.  I need to post to Letters and Lattes and then I'm going to read.  I started The Drawing of Three last night.  I was up way past my bedtime, too! Oops!

Pink on Wednesday? Of course!

Yes, I wear pink on Wednesdays! :p  I got in my walk today and it was hot.  It wasn't as bad as it was yesterday though, so that was nice.  I didn't get any mail, though.  That sucked!  I got my walk done on time, too!  I came home and did four workouts.  I ate and did one last one.  I got my things together and went to Starbucks for my weekly thing.

I was able to get my favorite chair immediately! YAY!  There was an older gentleman in the other comfy chair.  I asked if he minded if I took the other and he said not at all. ^_^  I wrote all my letters and then relaxed for the rest of the time.  I only had five pen pal letters and one letter to my friend that I write often.  After that, my hand was cramped!  I caught up on my Insta feed on my phone.  I follow so many people, if I don't check it at least once a day it takes forever to get caught up!

I retired my Ryka shoes after today's walk.  The lining on the inside back has worn off and the plastic underneath was rubbing my foot.  I put a tissue in my sock to cushion it so I wouldn't get a blister.  The bottoms are still in great shape.  They really held up well.  Six months and almost two weeks.  Not bad at all!  I have a pair of New Balance that I got at the beach that I will wear tomorrow.  They are so pretty!  Light blue.  I'll be posting a picture to my Insta after this if you want to see them.

I finished The Gunslinger last night. I didn't immediately start The Drawing of Three although I wanted to.  I felt sleep would be a good idea! :p  I will probably start on it tonight.  I

Letters and Lattes

It's Wednesday, so that means I went to Starbucks to write my pen pal letters!  I only had four to write.  Mail has been really slow lately.  I enjoyed my time at Starbucks.  I got all my letters done and then relaxed for a bit.  I also had one of my favorite treats from there.  A Michigan Cherry oat bar.  So good!  I got my favorite seat immediately, too!  I took some pictures and made a little collage to share:

BeFunky Collage

All I have to do now is get all the letters in envelopes, get those addressed, and put them in my bag for tomorrow's walk!  Hopefully I'll actually have mail in my box tomorrow.

Good grief!

So, I had to stop at four places on today's walk.  The first took 1 second.  The second place, I went in and no one was at the desk.  I waited and waited and finally someone came and took the things I needed to drop off.  I went on my way and hoped that I could make up the lost time.  I get to the bank and there is one person ahead of me.  He is already being waiting on as I get there.  Over 20 minutes later, I finally got to get waited on. ~_~; I was not amused.  I don't know what the hell he was doing, but it took forever.  While I was in there, another man came in.  He walked around to be closer to the teller.  I gave him a look!  When the guy that was there when I got there finally moved, this new guy acted like he was going ahead of me.  OH HELL NO!  I just gave him another look and said, "I've been waiting quite awhile."  I got done there and I had to stop by the post office to pick up the letter that I didn't get to pick up yesterday.  I had gotten a small rebate check, thus the trip to the bank.

Luckily, that only took a minute.  I checked my box, no mail, and headed out.  Of course by this time, I was REALLY behind on time.  I was not amused.  I walked faster than I normally do and it wasn't easy as it was quite humid out there.  Luckily it was overcast so that made it a little better.

I got home and did four of my workouts, I ate lunch and did one more.  I did a few other things that needed doing and then ran out for some errands.  I went to Dollar Tree and got a few things and headed home.  I am now typing this up so that I can get off the computer for the night.  I started on The Gunslinger last night and I'm already half way done. ^^;  A friend of mine has been promising to read the Dark Tower series and he finally started.  I hope he loves it as much as I do!

Tomorrow is Starbucks Wednesday.  I should stay home and weed eat the front yard, but I still hold out hope my friend will come and do it. If not, I'll do it on Thursday.  If they don't get here before Friday, it will be too late.  They are leaving for vacation for the weekend.  I really don't want to have to go out and do it with the weed eater as it takes a very long time and it kills my back. :(

Okay, enough complaining!  I'll be back tomorrow.

Let's talk Washi!

I am a recent Washi collector, so I have very few rolls.  My first was one that I bought for my K&Company Smash Journal.  I thought it was pretty cute.  I didn't know it was a 'thing'.  So, I see my friends on Insta with this cute tape like I had and they called it Washi.  So, fast forward a bit.  I got three rolls last fall after Halloween.  Target had three rolls on markdown. One has fall leaves and the other two are identical, they have Jack o' Lanterns!  I love Jack's and collect the hell out of them.  So, I had to have both of those and the fall leaves were cute.

I also bought some 'knock off' Washi at a Dollar General once.  It was more shiny like skinny duct tape.  Then today, I went to the Dollar Tree to see if I could find some cool stuff for pen palling.  I found a little accordian case that can be used for coupons or friendship books, stamps, labels, whatever.  It's clear and the dividers were different colors so I had to have it! :p

I also found a nice roll of pink Washi with flowers on it.  They also had seven packs of tiny washi.  So cute!  I took a couple of pictures to share:

It's actually more pink in person.  The flash made it look white.

I thought these were just too cute!

Here are all of them together so you can see the difference in the size.  All in all, I was happy with my purchases!  I'd love more washi in the future.  I think it will make decorating envelopes more fun!

Is it Fall yet?

It was another hot walk today.  I wish I had more places to fill up my water bottle.  I think that would make my walk a whole lot easier.  When I was able to walk on the trail, there were three different water fountains that I passed.  I could fill up more than once and that was nice!  It's just so hot out there!

I stopped by the post office but I only had a 'postage due' card in there for a letter. I didn't have any money with me, so that will have to wait until I do! I just hope they won't send it back before I can get it.  I came home and did all but one of my workouts.  I ate lunch and did one more.  I was going to get the weed eater out and get the front lawn done, but it rained for just a little bit.  I used that as my excuse to not do it!  I keep hoping my friend will actually come and help me out like they said!  It's a pain for me with the weed eater.  They have a riding lawn mower. ~_~;

I hope to get off this computer right after this and relax with my current read.  I want to finish it so that I can carry it back to the library. I am thinking of re-reading The Dark Tower again soon.

Let's talk stationery!

So, who loves pretty stationery?  I know I do!  When I started pen palling again, I was able to find some of my old store bought stationery.  I went online looking for free printable stationery and found a lot!  I took a picture of a few of the different ones I downloaded:

Just Google 'free printable stationery' and you'll find a lot of pretty ones to choose from.  I always download the file to save for later downloading when I run out of my initial printings.  It's a cheap and easy way to get great stationery!  All you need is some paper and a printer.  Some even have cute printable matching envelopes!  I love having a variety of stationery to use to write to my pals.  It's so much more fun than regular notebook paper!

Sunday again...

Yes, it's Sunday again!  I have been doing stuff all day and didn't get around to posting until now.  I did post a few posts at Letters and Lattes though.  I wanted to be sure to post here before closing down the computer for the night.  I don't have a lot to say.  It's been a really long day and I'm tired!  I have washed my bed linen and put it back on the bed.  Now I just need to go see if the load of clothes I was drying is ready to be folded and put away.  I washed dishes too.  I needed to work on the lawn again, but I just didn't feel like messing with it today.  Possibly tomorrow evening after my walk.  My friend never did come and get that part of the lawn that I couldn't get. ~_~;

Pen pal bag!

Here is my cool messenger bag that I use for toting my supplies to Starbucks.  I have several patches on it including two of the Letter Writer's Alliance which I am a member of!  Visit them by clicking on their link in my sidebar.  It's a great organization.  I love being a part of it.  They send the triangular patch with your membership.  I saw that they had the larger patches too.  That is what gave me the idea of having a cool messenger bag with patches. :)  Here is my bag:

It's not complete yet.  I want to get a few more patches for it.  It's a good size bag and it's perfect for carrying my stuff.  It also makes an excellent overnight bag if needed.  It has two outside pockets that are large enough for a bottle of soda or water.  They are also perfect for carrying my reusable Starbucks tumbler.  There is one large inside pocket, a small zipper pocket and one divided pocket in the front.  I made it into one pocket.  I absolutely LOVE this bag!  I highly recommend it.  I got it at Amazon.  If you are interested, here is the link:

Accordion folders

I use two accordion folders.  One for stationary, and one for labels/stamps/fbs/misc  It helps keep everything neat and organized.  These are my two folders:

I keep these in my desk at home, they are easily portable.  I can pop them in my pen pal messenger bag and head out or just put some stationary or other necessaries in my bag and go.  I love being organized.  It makes pen palling a lot easier!
