Working Out Feed

What a day!

I got in my regular walk today and it was hot.  I was sweating like crazy when I got home.  I cooled down and then decided to mow the lawn!  I was dripping with sweat when I was done with that.  I only did the front and part of the back.  I was glad to have it done.  I had to cool off again and I didn't do my workouts right then!  I did relax and do my French lesson and then it was time to fix lunch.

After lunch, I relaxed a while.  I thought my friend and I would walk, but we didn't.  I sort of wanted to, but at the same time I didn't since I'd done so much earlier.  I finished the true crime book I was reading and went to the library website hoping to find The Outsider.  It's the new novel by Stephen King.  They actually had it and it was available to borrow as an ebook. YES!  I am going to start it tonight.

When I came here tonight, my blog was missing!  I thought maybe Typepad was having issues.  I checked, and no.  So then I went to the blog via Typepad and there it was.  My domain had expired and I didn't realize it!  I went and renewed it and it took a few minutes for it to show back up.  If you visited today and couldn't find the blog via the domain name, forgive me!  I'm glad it's back.

I mailed my huge stack of mail on my walk.  I had all my letters plus I had two friendship books I was returning to people.  Hopefully they'll both become new pen pals. ^_^  That would be nice.  I also finally did my workouts.  I am going to finish up this post and get into that book!

Friday fun!

So, I did not want to walk today but I did.  It was overcast and the street was wet, but there was no rain.  Well, until I looked out the window right before I was leaving the house.  Guess what? RAIN!  AH!  I was not pleased, but I went ahead and got myself together and went.  It had stopped raining. Yay!  I walked most of the walk before it began raining.  It only rained on me about the last mile so that wasn't too bad.  It was sort of muggy and gross, but I made it home!  I didn't feel like doing my workouts right then even though it's stretch day, so I sat and relaxed for a bit.

My friend texted and asked if I wanted to ride with him a few places and we'd eat.  I said that sounded great as I was not in the mood to fix lunch!  He picked me up and we ate at a local restaurant that we haven't eaten at in a while.  They had hash brown casserole. YAY!  We ate and then went to the Goodwill.  I found a pair of shorts, a pretty sweater type shirt (brand new with the tags still on it!), a cute coffee mug with a fox on it and some sheet protectors.  My friend was nice and bought my stuff.  Oh and I had seen a Domo-kun t-shirt that I liked and he bought it for me too! Yay!  We left there and went to the other Goodwill in our city.  I only found one item there.. It's a lanyard that is made of recycled soda bottles and it's got Coca Cola on it.  I love Coke things and I love recycled things and it was only fifty cents. :D

After we left there, we headed home and he dropped me off.  I came in and put my things away.  I did a few things I needed to do around here.  I just finished my workouts a few minutes ago and my French lesson.  OH! I forgot one thing.  At the first Goodwill, I found a French learning book.  That was pretty cool and I thought it would be a nice addition to my growing French learning!

While we were on Riverside Drive at the restaurant, my friend said one of his friends posted a picture of part of Riverside under water.  As we were checking out, the guy at the register said that part of Riverside was closed due to flooding. I looked later and they had to actually bring a flat bed truck in at one spot to rescue the people in one of the businesses from the flash flooding.  Wow!  I heard it's all gone down now, but I bet the Riverwalk trail is under water in some parts.

The trail we go to in Martinsville flooded some too.  I saw a picture of one of the areas we have parked at to go on the trail completely under water.  Yikes!  It is supposed to rain here tomorrow, but I don't think it's supposed to be as heavy as it was today.  I hope it holds off until after I walk.  I was quite happy today that none of the really heavy rain came until after I got home!

I feel bad for the people who go to the Festival in the Park.  We have it every year in May. It started today and runs through Sunday.  Hopefully the people will get a respite from the rain before it's over.  Oh! One other thing,  the beach trip is NOT I repeat NOT cancelled. ^________________________^  Things worked out and we are going. YAY!!!! Of course, I'll carry the Macbook with me and post everyday!  I hope to create another photo album after this trip.

Nutty weather!

So, I went for my walk today and it was a bit cloudy, but the sun was out.  I was partially in my walk when it started raining.  it wasn't too bad, but I did have to use the umbrella.  It stopped a bit and the sun came out.  Then, it started to cloud up and it was pouring rain!  It stopped after a while, and the sun came out.  This went on for the entire walk.  Sun, rain, sun, etc!  Luckily, it never rained as hard as it did that one time.  I got home and I was glad to get here!  I relaxed a bit and then did my workouts.  It was ab day so that wasn't the most fun. :p

After workouts, I did my French lesson.  While I doing that, I heard a boom.  It was thundering!  It stormed for  a while and then stopped.  The sun came back out.  Now, it's overcast again and it looks like rain and it looks like we might have another storm.  I'm in for the night, so if it wants to storm, let it be!  I don't mind and I love to be home during a good thunderstorm.  I just had a cup of coffee. I really wanted to go to Starbucks since I haven't been this month.  I knew my friend that usually won't carry me over there sure wouldn't today.  There would be some excuse.  Probably the weather, but who knows.  Between her, and her mom, they have four, count them four vehicles.  Also, her husband has a vehicle, her son has one and her stepson has one.  My car  has been messed up for three years and she has never, not once, offered to carry me anywhere.  The few times I've gotten to carry me anywhere I needed to go, she acted like it was  huge hassle.  I really need new friends.  As an introvert, I don't make friends easily so getting new friends is out of the question. :(

I finished watching all the episodes of Unusual Suspects on Hulu.  I watched those after finishing all the episodes of Nightmare Next Door on there.  I'm currently watching Cold Case Files (the new version) on Hulu.  I loved the original on A&E and was glad when they brought it back.  I was even happier when they got Bill Kurtis back to narrate! :D  Danny Glover did a great job, but the show was always narrated by Bill Kurtis.

I just stood up and looked out the window. It's pouring rain again! I hope it clears off for my walk tomorrow, but I'm not holding my breath!  After I type this post, I guess I should get out my stationery and pen pal letters and try to get caught up on them.  I feel bad for letting them get behind.  I should have written the ones I had even when I didn't have stamps.  They would have been ready to go when I did get stamps.

Tuesday thoughts...

So, I'm posting early today so I don't do like I did last night!  I walked further today on my walk since I needed to go to the post office.  I picked up my piece of mail. It was a pen pal letter that needed postage.  They considered it a package and not a letter because it felt like it was too thick to be just a letter.  It  WAS just a letter.  UGH.  I paid the $2.50 to get it and I also got five international stamps.  I then headed on my way back home.  I didn't do my workouts when I got here as I was extremely hot and very tired.  I'll either do them later tonight or I may skip them today.  Why?  Well, I am going for another walk later, so I might not get a chance to do them.  I am not sure exactly when we are going to walk, but we will sometime.

I got my replacement piece for my Fitbit Charge 2 today.  I charged the battery to full and I'm wearing it now.  I already have a good feeling about this one. It's going to count steps, distance, and everything else correctly!  It charged easily and it's syncing well, too.  I'm quite pleased.  I will see how it tracks on tonights walk and tomorrow's too.  My usual daily walk is the best test for it.

When I went to the post office, luckily, the nice lady was working.  There is a guy that works the counter sometimes and I DO NOT like him.  I was so happy to see her and not him.  He is a pain in the butt and acts like an ass!  The lady that waited on me today is always sweet as she can be.  Her name is Queen and she is certainly as nice as one!  I also had to stop to get my prescription.  The guy at the pharmacy kept putting my birthdate in wrong and he was cracking us both up.  He tried to put in that I was born in the twenties at one point! LOL!  It was hilarious.  I got my script and headed home.  It was the first good experience I've had at this pharmacy since having to switch to it after Kmart closed.

I am not sure when my friend will come for us to walk.  I hope it's not too long.  I have to put my socks and shoes on.  I also have to put my bra back on and I'm not doing that until I absolutely have to! LOL!  I finished the first Oz book on my walk today and I'm just getting started on the second one.  The second one has Jack Pumpkinhead in it so I'm quite happy! ^_^

Saturday storm?

Well, I was all dressed and heading out my door today for my walk when I heard thunder.  Well, I thought it was thunder! I heard it again and really thought it was thunder, so I decided to put my walk off.  I came in, took off my earbuds, and sat down on the sofa.  I kept waiting for the storm that didn't happen!  I am guessing some of the neighbors were doing something that was really loud and I just mistook it for thunder.  I have no clue.  By the time I realized it wasn't thunder, it was too late to go on my walk and stay on schedule.  What did I do instead?  Well, I mowed part of the lawn that needed it and planted two trees!  On my walk yesterday, a guy stopped me and asked if I liked flowers and plants.  He said someone gave him the two little saplings and he didn't have anywhere to put them.  I took them home with me.  One is an Oak, but I am not sure what the other is.  It didn't have an id tag on it.  I have an app that you can snap a picture of the leaf and it'll id the tree.  I plan to do that tomorrow.  I was going to do it today, but I never got around to it.

I did my workouts at the usual time and my French lesson also.  I had my lunch and then headed out for my walk.  It was a lot later than usual, but it was pretty nice.  It was cooler than it would have been earlier in the day.  I got in my regular route.  I came home and sat down to cool off.  Even though it was later and cooler, it was still rather warm!  It's been overcast all day and I think it's supposed to rain tomorrow.  I just hope it will be nice and hold off until after my walk!

Thrifting and walking and food, oh my!

So, I got in my regular walk today. I stopped at CVS and got a book of stamps before heading home.  I didn't do my workouts after I got home as usual.  Instead, I went to the grocery store.  I spent more than I planned, but I got a lot of goodies.  I came home and put those away.  My friend wanted to eat and walk again!  I was surprised because he was pretty tired last night. :p

We rode to Eden NC to a trail over there.  First we ate at a little pizza place called Stella's pizza. It was quite good.  They are really just take out/delivery, but they had one booth inside and we ate in.  It was some damn good pizza!  After that, we headed to Goodwill so we wouldn't miss it before they closed.  I found a brand new pack of Staedler colored pencils for .49!  I also found a restaurant notebook, some assorted stationery, and a few other things.  The notebook is cool. You can keep track of restaurants you visit.  The stationery was some envelopes, some cute little cards and various other things.  Perfect for a pen pal person!  I also found a Fossil brand black leather purse. It's so nice and I paid a whole 1.49 for it! Yes, ONE DOLLAR and forty nine cents! WHOO!  I love a good bargain.  I also go a vintage candle trimmer thing.  You use it on the bottom of a candle so it will fit in a candle holder.  I also got a nice new wallet with the $35 price tag will on it for $2.  And, I found a Weight Watchers kit.  It's got two books on the point system and a little journal.  It's pretty cool.  Those things are really expensive brand new and I didn't have to join WW! LOL

All in all, it was a good trip to Goodwill.  After that, we went to the trail.  Almost this time last year, a tornado went through that trail and there was a lot of damage to trees.  They have a plaque about it.  The trail was re-directed at one point from the original trail!  We got through walking and headed back.

I got home and did my workouts. It was stretch day and it felt so good to stretch!  I am now going to relax until bed time as I'm extremely tired.  I need to catch up my receipts from today in my checkbook and see how much damage I did! :P  OH! I also received in the mail today my very first coffee grinder.  I got some whole bean coffee at the grocery store.  I am still working on making the perfect cup.  I made my first cup tonight and it was pretty good, but I want to experiment and see what I can come up with.  The grinder is easy to use and makes the kitchen smell good!

Not too bad....

The day that is!  I got in my walk at my regular time.  The Fitbit wouldn't connect to my phone for some reason.  I don't know why it was doing this.  I have a replacement coming so hopefully I'll be on track soon.  Fitbit is sending me a replacement for mine.  I should get it by next week.  I can't wait!

I came home from my walk and did my workouts.  It was pretty warm on my walk today.  Today's workouts were all abs.  That was insane, but I got through!  I went to the park later and walked a little bit more but not a whole lot. I came home and my friend called so I went up to see Cocoa and ended up seeing all the dogs! LOL  All five of them! :P Her mom's two and her three!  I had to come home and wash everything I had on from all the dirt and paw prints. My clothes also smelled like dog. LOL!  It was worth it!  They are all so fun.

They gave me a bowl of leftover tortellini to take home with me. I know what I'm having for dinner tomorrow! :P I love that stuff and I never get it unless I eat it at their house.  I am always happy for the leftovers and they make too much and then no one up there wants to eat the leftovers.  I will eat them! lol

Wednesday walks and things

So, it was overcast but not raining when I got up today.  Guess what it was doing when I started walking?  Yup, you guessed it, raining!  Luckily it didn't last too long and I was able to walk without using my umbrella after a bit.  There was a big power outage along my trail.  Seems a tree fell over last night and took out a couple of power poles!  The businesses along my route were all dark and closed.  I walked past the Hardee's and there were people in the drive thru all the way around the building.  There were no lights or people inside.  I don't know how they thought they would get any service. I just shook my head and walked on!

They had the tree and the poles mostly cleared up when I got to that point.  I had to cross the street because the sidewalk was blocked on the side I usually go down, but that was it.  I noticed that at the busy intersections, they had generators hooked up to the street lights to keep traffic moving.  I was an interesting walk!

As for my Fitbit, I guess I'm going to have to learn to deal with the fact that it's just not going to give me as many steps as my One did.  It's really frustrating.  I feel like I'm working so much harder just to get to 15,000 which is what I set for myself in a day.  I used to get home from a walk and have either right under or right over 13,000.  Now, I get home with 11,000 if I am lucky!  I have done all the fixes I can think of.  I changed my stride length, I wear the Fitbit in the right place.  I don't know what else to do!  I did see that someone said they had the same issues and after a couple of weeks, it seemed to work itself out.  I'm hoping this will happen for me, too!  I love the Charge 2 and I don't want to have to start over again.

I got a teal Fitbit branded band today.  I like the after market bands I have, and I will order more, but I wanted a Fitbit branded teal one since that is the color I wanted for my Charge 2.  I just wish Target had had the teal ones!  I do love purple and the plum is so nice, but teal is my color. ^_^

It cleared off after I got home, of course! lol  I did my workouts.  Abs today.  Not too bad, but the cardio workout was modified because some of the moves and my foot pain are not compatible!  I decided that I would mow a bit more of the lawn.  I probably should have waited until tomorrow to let it dry, but it cut fine.  I have one more section to go and I'll get it another day.  I wanted to mow to get in more steps! lol  I am at 18,047 at the moment.  I probably won't get a lot more tonight as it's already after 11.

Oh!  After my walk, when I'm at my most tired and my feet are killing me, my friend called.  She said her mom had a gas line leak earlier and the police and fire department and all kinds of other people were up at her house and she couldn't get her on the phone and would I go check on her.  I knew her mom was okay since I walked right by there and didn't see anything when I came home.  I walked up there and her mom was on the phone.... to her. ~_~;;;  I got to see and love on her mom's dog Roxie though so it wasn't a wasted trip. I love me some Roxie.  She is a little cutie and one of the pups I dog sit for sometimes.

I  finished the true crime book I was reading last night and I've started on another.  This one is another by M. William Phelps.  I love his books!  Speaking of true crime, did you see that they caught the Golden State killer today?  I remember that case from Unsolved Mysteries and I saw a show about it on HLN while at the beach.

BLEAH

Today's walk was just bleah! lol  It rained a bit when I was starting off and I had to use my umbrella.  I was able to stop using it later, but as I was heading back, it started to rain even more and it was the kind that doesn't care if you have an umbrella or not. It's going to get you wet! LOL!  I was so happy when I got home and was able to peel off my damp clothes and put on dry ones!

I sat and relaxed for a bit and then did my workout.  I saw that the 100 burpee burnout was on today's calendar.  I was going to skip that completely, but I decided I'd try a few of them.  I did them all!  I modified the heck out of most of them because of my foot, but I did them!  I was proud of myself and very sweaty and out of breath! I am glad they are done!

I went to the post office after lunch and mailed one pen pal letter.  I only had one stamp left!  I received five new letters! I decided to treat myself to Starbucks while I was out. :p Yes, I got a cascara latte. :D

Thank you rain!

It was overcast this morning when I got up. There was rain in the forecast for today.  I was hoping that it wouldn't rain on me while walking. It didn't! It started raining after I got home.  I was quite happy that it was nice enough to wait until I got home. ^_^  I relaxed a little bit before doing my workouts.  I didn't get another walk in tonight because of the rain.  I'm hoping it will be nice tomorrow evening and my friend will want to go walking.  If not, I may take a short walk.  Who knows.  I'm trying really hard to stay on track with my eating and walking and workouts.

I have actually lost a few pounds. I'm happy about that, but it doesn't seem to be coming off quickly enough.  I want to work on that.  I think I will start to lose more weight now that I'm having to work harder to get in my steps. Today, the Fitbit did much better on distance.  It's still not as many steps as the One.  I love all the other features about it, so I'm not going to worry too much about that.  It seems to do much better when I actually track the walk WITH the Fitbit.  The Charge 2 has different workouts build in.  You can choose the one you are going to do and start it when you start.  I did that on today's walk and got a better distance.  I'm going to continue to track that way.

The Charge 2 also has other workouts in there.  Run, Hike, Pilates, Weights, etc.  It's pretty cool!  I actually used the run feature just for the heck of it the other day.  I didn't run fast or far, but I ran a little bit. :p I am sure if I could start running, I'd get more weight off!

Wow, I've been talking about my Fitbit in just about every post since I got it. ^_^;  I'll try to talk about other things. :p
