What the Junk?!

I finally decided on my plans of Camp NaNoWriMo for July. I'm going to add words to my work in progress. I'm not ready to put it aside for my skater fic right now. I have some intereseting things coming up and it's going to give me plenty to write! I added a goal to add 35,000 words to it, but I may go over. I like to go low on Camp just in case. I still have no idea what I'm doing in November, but I have plenty of time between now and then to figure that one out! It's hard to believe that tomorrow is July!

Sort of a boring day. I did write more than I did yesterday, so that was good! I wrote yesterday and got to a certain point. I added an entire scene that I decided against and scrapped that part. I DID save the text in a note in Scrivener. I might go with that later, I haven't decided yet. It may be put in but a lot different and I wasn't ready to write that part yet, so to the side, it went. That, of course, made yesterday's writing count go down. I didn't write a ton more today, but I did write more and that is what counts. :) I sort of want to add in that drama from yesterday (revamped) but we'll see!

My friend texted me today and asked if I had eaten yet. I hadn't as I was still trying to decide what I wanted to fix!  He asked if I wanted to go to a local restaurant. I immediately texted YES! We haven't been to this particular restaurant in a while. It's been at least since before Covid, so a bit over two years. It was delicious as always, but the prices were a bit higher. All in all, though, I enjoyed it.  I got the grilled chicken with teriyaki. They have really good chicken and the teriyaki sauce is delicious! I was happy to have it again. I knew I loved it, but I had forgotten just how good it is. Yum!

Yeah, that was today! I didn't leave the house or do much of anything. I did write, though! Not over 400o words like yesterday, but at least a good amount. That is always good. I actually just looked and I wrote a bit over 2400 words. What? I really thought it was less than 2000. Well, go me! :P

It rained today for a while and it was intense! I didn't know it was supposed to. I looked out earlier and it was sunny and nice. Later, I looked and thought it looked like it might be starting to rain. As the street looked as if it were. Then, I look a few minutes later and there was no doubt. It was pouring buckets! It didn't last a long time, but it was a good drenching. No loud music from the neighbors today. The rain must have put a stop to that. :p

I wrote a bunch! Over 4,000 words! Whoo-hoo! It's been a while since I had a good day of writing like that. I got an idea and was on a roll! I went back just a bit ago to edit one part and added a bit more. That is always fun. I did my usual Sunday things, washing bed linen, my hair, and putting away yesterday's laundry.  I did a backup to Time machine on my MBP too. It took.... seven minutes. LOL!  That is so crazy. I love actually having a newer Mac that doesn't take forever to do things. :) I actually got up to put away the laundry from yesterday while the Time machine was doing its thing and it was done before I was! :p

Not much silliness going on, but I needed a title. :p My friend that lives two houses up the street from me called. Her house is the corner house at the top of the street and there is a house and an old empty store between us. Anyway! There is a new family in the house between us and they are being a nuisance. They like to play music and play it LOUD. The bass alone from whatever they are playing was about the drive me nuts earlier. I was ready to get dressed and leave my damn house to get away from it. It's not like I can go to another part of my house since my room is the only one with air conditioning! It finally stopped. I breathed a sigh of relief and went on with my day. I had been watching some YouTube videos on the TV and had them turned up extremely loud and could still hear them when it was on. Well, my friend called not long after it started up again.  She has been having issues with him coming into her yard and messing around.  Luckily, there is a fence between my yard and theirs, or they'd probably be messing in mine too!

The whole situation is a mess.  They finally went in after 10 pm and she said she could see them running around and they were in her lower yard. So annoying.  I told her to put up a fence and that would keep them out. I also advised No Tresspassing signs.  Did I mention that they also have chickens, dogs, cats, and at one point ducks?! My friend said she heard that something attacked the birds and killed them. They weren't in any kind of shelter, so I'm not surprised! I preferred when the other guy lived up there, I never even knew he was there because he never made a peep. He had big work trucks, too and I never heard anything from him. Unfortunately, it WAS a rental house but the landlord sold it, so these people now own it. Ugh!

Anyway! So, I spent a lot of time on the phone with her so she could vent.  I ran out in between her calls and grabbed dinner as I was stressed over the music. I meant to put away the laundry I washed today, but it's still in the dryer and will be until tomorrow! Sorry laundry.

So, the last time I went to check my post office box, I had a letter in there for a local business. It had their physical address and my PO box number.  I scribbled through my PO box number, put 'sent to this address by mistake', and tossed it back into the outgoing mail.  Well, last night, I checked Informed delivery at the post office box, and guess what was back in my box? You guessed it. That is what I needed to do last night but didn't because I was tired. I figured going today would be better as the counter is open until 3 pm.

So, I run down there today, I opened my box to get it and it's not there! So, I went to the counter and told the lady what was going on. She told me that she actually moved it to the correct box. They have a box at this post office, it's 1234 and my box is 124 (not the real numbers, just an example) so that is how it happened. I don't know who put it back in my box, but I'm glad she saw that and fixed it. It was irritating that I had to make an unnecessary trip down there, but it wasn't her fault. I am just glad it's at the right place now and I won't have to worry about it!

Phew. I think I AM dead. Why? Well, it's hot here and I have been hiding in the air conditioning like I mentioned yesterday. Well, I desperately needed to mow the front lawn. I went out and got the mower started up after some work. (it has to be rigged up to run! LOL) So, I get it running, go and I"m mowing and it starts sputtering. I was hoping it would straighten out, but no. It cut off. I walked it all the way back around and put gas in it, worked on it a bit, and started it. Went and got the rest done. Just the front, mind you!  So, I do that, and then remember my friend asked if I would trim some of the bushes in my driveway so they didn't brush his car. They don't brush mine so I don't pay any attention to them hanging out a bit. I came in, grabbed my clippers, and went to do that. Keep in mind that I'm already hot as hell from mowing. I get that done and then rinse off Goontz as I needed to run out.  Well, I turn to go into the house and realize my keys are not on my wrist. D'OH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, I think and think, where the heck did they go?  I looked all around and then I remembered when I went out front to clip a few weeds at the street that my mower can't get, I laid them down. I go, thinking they are there and they are not. I think, okay, I know I didn't leave them there. What if I did leave them there? What if someone came and took them? They'll have a key to my house and to Goontz! I was freaking the f out as you can imagine. I looked in that area thoroughly, left, went back, and looked several more times. I had left my phone in my room, so I had no way to call anyone.  I remembered that I have a tool that lets me get in my back door so I went to get it and got inside. (Yeah, my backdoor has issues too!)  I look, hoping I had brought my keys in and forgot. Nope.

So, I got back out to the front spot AGAIN and look.  I go back around the house and just stood there trying to think. It was on my arm when I was clipping the branches, maybe when I tossed the branches to the side, they fell off? So, I look in the first place, nothing, I go to the next place, move the branches and BINGO!!!!!! I let out a HUGE sigh of relief. I gathered them up and came in. Of course, by now, I was so hot, that I was almost sick. I was soaked in sweat and just miserable.  I took off my soaked shirt, washed myself off with cool water, and came into my room with the air conditioner. I still need to run that errand, but it may wait until tomorrow!

Yeah, nothing exciting to report today. Just a lazy day at home. I really should have mowed the front lawn today, but it was pretty nasty out there. I was going to wait until the evening when it cooled off and then forgot. lol. Maybe tomorrow.  Oh well, it's not horrible yet.

I stayed in my room with the air conditioning! I did write a good bit on my current work. July is not that far away and that means Camp NaNoWriMo. I am undecided if I am participating. I WILL be doing NaNoWriMo in November, but I haven't decided on Camp.  I could just add words to my current work, but I could also get part two of the book I did for April's camp. I'll decide later.  If I do the second part of book three of my Olympic skater story, I need something new for NaNo in November. I am pretty much written out on my zombie epic. Plus, I wrapped that up pretty well last year.  Of course, every book in the series has had a complete ending, so..... I really need a new idea!  I'll ponder it and decide later.

I forgot to post yesterday, not sure why. It wasn’t a very busy day.  Oh well, I’m posting today, so that is good. My friend and I thrifted today. Our usual Reidsville Tuesday trip since we haven’t in a while. I scored! I found a portable / travel size NeatScan scanner in this store some time ago, not sure when, but I’ve had it a while. So, today, I found a full sized one. I looked them up and found one like it on Amazon for almost $400. Very nice find. This one scans really well and does it fast and well. I am pleased with this find. My cost? $9.99! Nice! I love a good bargain! I have it set up and and ready to use when I need it. I will only have to plug it in to the MBP when I need to scan. Setup for so easy as I already have the other little one hooked up. I just plugged this in, went in system preferences on the MBP and added it. No muss, no fuss! :D

So, it's Sunday so I got my usual stuff done. I got everything done early too! I only need to get in my clean bed and relax until time to sleep. I wrote a bunch today, too so that is good! I forgot to mention one thing yesterday as I was so tired. I was watching some YouTube videos and I watched one where a girl showed how she set up her Mac and I got a few ideas. I made a cute picture collage wallpaper for my Mac from her idea. I just went to Canva and made a blank background and then found cute pictures on Pinterest. I went for a pink theme as the first picture I found was pink. I think I'm going to do more of these as the one I did yesterday came out so well. :)  

Yes, the light in my yard is out again. It didn't come on tonight, so .... sigh 

I got a bit of writing down today, but not as much as I would have liked. My sleep was absolutely horrible last night. I could not get comfortable. It felt like it was way too hot in my bedroom although it really shouldn't have been. It took me putting my air conditioner on full blast AND having a fan on a chair pointing right at my bed to help me sleep and that even took a while. I don't know what that was about, but I am hoping to not have a repeat tonight!  I watched YouTube pretty much all day except for when I ran out to check my post office box. I paid my box this month and the payment hasn't hit the bank yet, so I wanted to make sure they had gotten it. The receipt was in my box, so it has been processed there. I guess it will show up in my bank account soon.

While I was out, I went to Starbucks and got a Peppermint white mocha. While in line, I saw they had a new bakery item. It's called lime frosted coconut (Frosted lime coconut bar I looked it up!) I LOVE coconut and lime and wanted to try it, but alas they were out. :(. Next time!  Now, I'm going to get dressed for bed and relax a bit. I have laundry in the dryer and I need to make sure it's dry. I will put it away tomorrow as I am really too tired to mess with it tonight.

Okay, I'm really tired and I've been trying to doze off for several hours tonight. I can't go to bed this early as I will wake up waaay too early. I do want to get my blog post done and tell you something very weird that happened.

So, two years ago while my friend and I were at the beach, we came home and I noticed that the light I had in my backyard wasn't lit. It's a pole that my mom had the city put in a very long time ago to keep the backyard lit. I have a big backyard, so it was necessary.  In any case, it went out two years ago. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I could not get the city in to check it / replace the bulb. So for two years, I have just had the pole with no light and I've been paying for it.  (It's on my utility bill each month.) So, imagine my surprise tonight when I went through my house and saw a light in the yard. I thought to myself that it looked like the light from the pole. I knew it couldn't be that, it's been dark for two years! Well, I look and it IS the light. I have absolutely NO CLUE how it's now working after two years. There is no way a truck could have gotten in to change the bulb.  We did have a big wind storm here today, a bit of rain with a LOT of wind. I am not sure how this would make the light start working again, but it is working. At least it was when I went back to check on it. I went out and came back and told myself it would be out again and I'd only have the picture I took that it was on as proof. lol So weird!!!! So, my backyard light is working again. I just don't get it.

The only other thing I can think of, is maybe with the winds, the city came and worked on the street poles but there were power outages around the city, so I can't imagine them coming in this neighborhood since our power never went out. I guess it's going to have to remain a mystery for now.  I'm VERY glad to have it back. It's was so dark in my yard without it.

I decided to give my little rolling drawer cart a pop of color today. It was easy. I cut paper to size and then used different color Post-it notes on each paper to make each drawer have a different color. I really love the way it came out. Here is a close shot of it and a picture of how my desk looks with the cart. It's very neat and orderly. I love it.

I am aware the lighting sucks, but you get the idea! :p

Sorry for not posting yesterday. I didn't leave the house, and I forgot to post. Sorry about that.  I did some cleaning/straightening in my room today. I mentioned that I got a rolling drawer thingee in Greensboro last month, well, I got it organized with my stuff today so I can use it under my desk. It will keep my external drives, cables, and other things I need near my desk.  I want to get some little containers or dividers, but for now, I'm happy with what I have. Everything is neatly organized. I am not sure where I'm going to put the other little rolling drawer cart I was using.  The one I got last month has more drawers, it's a bit taller, and it's narrower. It fits under my desk perfectly.  I like it. It's easy to put my hand on whatever I need quickly.

So, I did that today, I only wrote a few lines as I put off my writing until this evening and I am very tired. I didn't sleep well last night.  I am also a bit bleah. I am not sure what it is that I ate that upset my stomach, but something did! My friend and I went to a local restaurant we love.  I got pizza. I'm pretty sure that isn't what did it, though.  I'll find out tomorrow when I eat some leftovers! LOL! 😆
