Big thrift, no puzzle!

I didn't have a chance to pull out a puzzle today. My friend and I went on a long thrift trip. Reidsville, Walkertown, and Mayodan. I didn't get a lot of stuff, but I did get some goodies.  One of my finds was another Starbucks tumbler! It's cute. Sadly, when we were loading the car, my friend put the bag I and my tumbler fell out and hit the pavement. :( It cracked at the bottom, but it won't interfere with its use. I just wish that hadn't happened. My poor tumbler took a tumble! :( I found two cute composition books in one GW that have black shiny glitter covers. They are so cute! They were only.50¢ I should have bought more! I will if they have any left the next time I go.  I really don't need more notebooks (HAHA) but yeah. Anyway! :p

I didn't think I would get to write tonight as I'm extremely tired, but I did get almost 1600 words so I'm happy!  I am trying to write everyday.  I STILL have no idea what I'm doing for NaNoWriMo. I HAVE to decide on that SOON. Ah! Here are a few pretty rainbow pictures I took while we were out.

A bit hard to see and not as pretty as in person, but there you go!

No thrift for me. Phooey!

I thought my friend and I were going thrifting today.  We talked about it yesterday, but it didn't come to pass. Boo! I did run down to the grocery store to pick up a few things I needed. I wanted to get myself a little cake for my birthday tomorrow, but they were all out of birthday cakes! Phooey!  I got a six-pack of cupcakes instead.  Pink and yellow ones.  They are delicious as I had one early! :p  A funny thing happened when I was in the store. I went down the cereal aisle and there are several kinds of bagged granola there. I love granola and it hit me that I had bought two bags on my last trip. Then, I was going over in my mind, well, did I buy them? Did I get home with them? Where the heck are they! So when I got home, I looked and they were in the cabinet! lol I would have found them eventually, but it was funny because I had forgotten all about them!

My little Goontz hit 100,000 miles today! :( Poor fella!  I took pictures of the odometer at 99,999 and at 10o,000! I plan to stay in tomorrow except for running to Starbucks to get my free birthday drink. It's only available on the day of your birthday. I hope to run over and get that, but I might just skip leaving the house altogether and just spend a quiet day at home. My plan is to just relax and do whatever I want, so going out may not happen!

Impromtu Thrift!

Yeah, there were absolutely no plans to thrift today.  My friend has been saying he'd put new tires on Goontz since we've driven it so much and it was needed new tires when he got it.  He took it today and got tires.  He then wanted me to drive it to see how it felt with the new tires.  That was nice.  I switched spots with him and we went by Wendy's for me to grab a bite to eat as it was past my lunchtime.  After that, we went to Cookout so he could get a shake.  He mentioned drying on the highway and said something about Eden, NC.  I said, how about Martinsville instead.  That is what we did.  We went to the Goodwill in Martinsville and the one in Bassett (just up the road about 10 minutes).  At the first GW, I found some Avery address labels new in the package, three packs of business card binder pages, (I use these for my Starbucks cards), a purple binder with some divider inserts already in there, a cute little canvas bag, and a plastic kitchen spoon!  That was a nice little haul.  We went to the Bassett one and I found a pair of Dr. Martens in my size that looked almost brand new.  They were $40 and I didn't have that much, so my friend got them and I'm going to pay him back $10 a month for the next four months. Cool!  They are pretty cool, they are a bit shiny and look either purple or burgundy.  Just depends on the lighting.  They are very cool and I've never had a pair of Docs.  Here they are:

PXL_20210325_004436520.MP

Cool, yes? My size, in great condition for a good price, and they are comfy!  I was very pleased to get them.  The only other thing I found in there was a puzzle.  I got it for .69¢. I really need to start working on puzzles again!  While we were out, we went by the car wash and washed Goontz.  Later, we took it by another car wash and I vacuumed it well.  My Goontz has new tires, is clean inside and out and I'm pleased! ^_^

Here is the cute little bag. It has blueberries on it! It has a tag that says, "Stonewall Kitchen" in it.  I just thought it adorable and had to have it. It rang up a whole .99¢!

Impromptu thrift trips are fun!  In other news, my set of Styluses that I ordered from Amazon came today.  I also received my order from eBay of two DS games. One is Scribblenauts and one is an Adventure Time game! YAY! The AT game is, "Hey Ice King! Why Did You Steal Our Garbage??!" :p

Thrifting, yes, big haul, no.

We did a thrift trip today. We went to Reidsville to Salvation Army and Goodwill. I didn't buy anything in SA, but I found a cool Starbucks tumbler from 2006 in Goodwill! :) I add pictures at the end of this post.  From there, we went to the little restaurant we found on Friday in Stokesdale and ate.  When then went to the Goodwill in Mayodan. I found a box of Rolodex cards that fit the little Rolodex I bought Friday. It has 1000 in it, so I should not run out anytime soon! :p That was a whole dollar, too! We left there and headed to Eden.  Since we were in Eden, we stopped by the Goodwill there. There were two Sak bags and a Fossil wallet. I didn't get any of those though as I was already low on cash and I couldn't see spending that much.  The bags were nice but not really my style. The wallet I would have gotten just because it was Fossil. It really wasn't one I would use.  The only thing I bought in there was a set of whiteboard markers.  I never seem to have a working whiteboard marker when I need it.  This was a pack of ten with some cool colors other than the usual blue, green, red, and black. :) It was a decent little trip and my friend was nice enough to fill my car up when we got back since we've taken two thrifting trips since I filled it up recently. :)

I just realized that you can see Homer going, "Whoo Hoo!" in the background. He must like my tumbler. :p

Walking on a Wednesday!

So, my friend wanted to walk today. I did not! lol, I went anyway.  We went to the Riverwalk trail.  We didn't walk as far as we did last time, but we did get in a nice walk.  I only took one picture to share!

PXL_20210310_213408012.MP

I like the colors in this.  No filters, that is just the way it looked.  I would have taken a few more pictures, but I wasn't feeling great as we were heading back.  I just did make it to my car! Sheesh.  After I dropped him off, I went and got food. I think that was the problem. I usually eat before we walk, but I didn't because I thought he was coming right from work and of course he didn't. ~_~; Oh well, I got something yummy and got a little extra goodie to heat up and eat later.  I went to Burger King and got a combo and saw that their cheesy tots are back. I LOVE those things so I got some and I have them for later. Well, minus one, I had to have one.  So delicious! Just as good as I remember them, too!

I did my French and wrote some before I went. I plan on writing more.  It's great that I got the 13" MBP going.  I was doing updates to the 15" last night and I knew it might take awhile, so I wrote on the 13" in a new Scrivener file and was able to copy it to my regular Scrivener file.  I did some editing on it earlier and then added it to it.  I have more to write tonight so I'm going to do that.  At least that is the plan!

I want to wish my favorite anime character of all time a very Happy Birthday today! I'll do a separate post for that after this one, but Happy Birthday Nuriko! ^_^.

Thrifting again....

So, we went thrifting again today.  We went to Pete's to eat and to the Salvation Army store and two Goodwill stores.  I found a few goodies.  In the Goodwill in Reidsville, my friend bought me a sewing machine!   I have wanted one forever. This was a Singer and it was only $15!  It works, too!  I found a manual online and downloaded the PDF of it to learn how to use it.  I'm quite happy with it as now I can mend things a lot easier. I may even be able to make some things to sell on Etsy! :)

I found a Starbucks tumbler in the Goodwill in Mayodan NC, I also found a Wii Animal Crossing game! I don't have a Wii, but I couldn't pass up an AN game!  I also found a cute Sak bag in there and a shirt (Zombie Hunter), some candles, and a few other little goodies. It was a good haul.  I can't wait to try out my sewing machine. It seems to be all there. I just need to learn to thread it and what setting to use for what stitch. This will come in handy as I buy sleep pants and cut them off to make sleep shorts, now they will actually have a hem! :p At the Goodwill in Reidsville, I found a Simpsons Christmas DVD with four episodes on it.  It was a whole .99¢! It was a fun trip.  I took a few pictures of the sunset at different spots. Here are two of those:

I am going to post this and write a bit and then I'm going to crash.  I'm tired and I want to relax a bit.  I am not in the mood to write, but I'm going to write at least a paragraph. I'm trying to write every day. Its good practice for NaNoWriMo and CampNaNo is next month! I still don't know what I'm doing for that yet.

Hoo Boy!

What a thrifting trip that was! We started in Reidsville and went to the Salvation Army store and Goodwill. I found an Apple-branded cover for my iPad mini in there. It's light blue and I love it.  At Salvation Army, I got some cards, a snowman pin, a wallet, a CD, a cheese grater, and two packs of those cute little animal cable protectors.  We went from there to Wentworth NC and ate at a place called Mom's Kitchen.  We were looking forward to it. It was not great.  It was just.... I don't want to be mean, but it wasn't good. We won't be going back there.  We went from there to the Mayodan Goodwill that we recently discovered and I found a few things there.  A small Keurig k-cup holder (It fits under the little brewer in my room! LOL), a case (that will fit an external HD), a set of Tetris magnets, and a cute little Halloween ceramic thingee with a ghost, a tree, and little jack o lanterns.  We went on to a 'new' Goodwill in Walkertown NC.  I found a Sak bag exactly like the one I wanted at Myrtle that I bought on eBay. This one is the same bag but instead of being black, it's teal. I absolutely LOVE it.  I got that, a bit metal jack o lantern, a S'well bottle with donut design, a purple zipper pouch, a box of Ticonderoga pencils, and a Homer Simpson shirt! I can't wear it, it's way too small, but I had to have it! Lol

We left there and were heading to the Goodwill in Eden but we ended up going right past the one in Mayodan. They are constantly putting stuff out there so we stopped back in. I found some stampers and a cute crab plush.  I love crabs! He is red is so cute!  We then went to the Goodwill in Eden and I found a DS game! They had quite a few, but there was one that I was pretty sure I'd love. It was Crafting Mama!  I always adored the Cooking Mama games so I got this. It was still in the original case, too. That was $4. I was so happy to finally see some DS games and one I actually wanted! I'll try it later as I haven't been home long and I've been working on my writing.  I'm too tired to do it justice tonight so I've just been editing.

After Eden, we headed to our last stop, Martinsville, VA, and to the Goodwill there.  We ate again in Eden at a drive-up place.  That was much better than our lunch!  At the Martinsville Goodwill, I didn't find anything!  That was okay because I had already spent plenty.  I love all my finds. I'm so happy that I found that purse! I adore the black one so much and this is the same purse only in a cooler color. This once still has the Sak dangle thingee on it, too!

The CD I found in the Salvation Army in Reidsville is from the Vince Guaraldi Trio. It's all the music from the 1965 A Charlie Brown Christmas special  I just happened to see it while I was in line and snatched it up!  I've already ripped it to my MacBook Pro so I can enjoy it on here and on my iPod. I love the music from it.

I just looked up the cover I got for the iPad Mini. It sells new on the Apple store for $39.99! @_@; I got it for $4.99. SCORE!!!! lol  I am pretty sure this will also fit any iPad Mini so if I get a newer one, I should be able to use it with those too. :) It was a good thrifting trip. I'll try to remember to take pictures tomorrow.  I need to move everything off my bed so I can actually sleep in it tonight. Plus, I want to try Crafting Mama!

Thursday again.

I actually know it's Thursday this week!  I got the hard drive returned today with my data.  They said they would put it on a drive the size of my data recovered.  I figured they would send a 1 GB drive as the stuff on it was a little less than that.  They send me a 4 GB drive with my files!  That was more than generous and I was extremely happy!  I finally cloned the drive my friend lent me and erased it to return it to him tomorrow.

As for tomorrow, we are doing a thrifting trip.  He sometimes gets off at noon on Friday and we are hoping he will tomorrow so we can do a few different places.  I'd love to make it to the Salvation Army since they were closed yesterday.  I'm also hoping to find some DS games and other goodies!  I wrote tonight and it was an emotional scene, so I only wrote a little over 1000 words. I'll probably edit it tomorrow and then write more. It was pretty good!

I remembered that today I had an offer from Starbucks that if you did order ahead, you would get a free drink loaded onto your card for a future purchase. It was for a Grande or Venti.  Guess what my dumb ass bought? Tall. ~_~; I realized my mistake when I got home.  Oh well.  I tried another new drink.  This was the Oatmilk honey latte.  I don't think I like it.  It wasn't horrible by any means, it just isn't something I would enjoy.  It's weird though, the more I drank it, the better it got? It was weird.  I don't know. I am desperately trying to find something to fill the void left by my cascara syrup being discontinued!

I hope to do a post tomorrow night about thrifting, but I might be too tired if we go to a bunch of places. I'll try to check in any way even if I have to do a write up of all the goodies I get on Saturday.  I am planning on staying home the entire weekend, so I can get writing, chores, and other things done!

UGH!

I went to print something tonight and my printer wasn't working.  I went in to try and fix it and now it won't connect to my network. ~_~;;;;;  I have done troubleshooting and nothing. I CAN print if I have the printer connected via USB but that defeats the purpose of a wireless printer. I will mess with it again tomorrow. I've spent far too much time on it tonight when I had other things I wanted to be doing!  Let's hope I can clear it up.  It is so frustrating when stuff like this happens.

I didn't do a lot today since I'm still under the weather.  I did go to the car wash and then to the gas station to fill up Goontz!  I went by Starbucks while I was out ad had a Blonde honey almond milk flat white! lol That is fun to order, let me tell you! :P I'm going to write for a bit and then relax.  I wrote earlier, so I just want to add more words. I'm going to try one more thing that was suggested and that was to re-start my router. I wanted to post this before I did that!  Wish me luck!

SPOILER: IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :P

Nice and warm!

It was in the sixties today and it was nice.  My friend and I went to the trail to take a walk.  I didn't really want to go as I'm a bit under the weather, but I went.  It was nice down there.  We got to see the two bridges they have finally repaired and put back.  We walked a total of 3 miles. This, back in the day, would be nothing, but since neither of us has walked in a while, it was rough.  It didn't help that I'm sick.  The scenery was pretty as always and I got to love on a cute little puppy! <3

I am going to try to crash a little early tonight and hopefully knock out whatever this is that I have.  I've been so careful.  I haven't been sick in over a year so this really sucks.  My DS charger is supposed to come tomorrow so I can play with it a little more. I haven't done anything with it since I got it since the battery was low.  I hope to be able to get some games for it. I'll keep my eyes out when we thrift shop.  We see them sometimes but I've never really looked into them since I didn't have a DS.

As for now, I think I'm going to share a few pictures I took along the trail and then close the MBP for the evening and relax.  Hopefully, I can go to bed early.  I could use the extra sleep!

Another thrift trip! :p

My friend texted me today and said he wanted to go to Pete's in Reidsville, so we did.  I found some vintage Hallmark boxed cards at the Salvation Army store.  We made it in time to go this time! :)  At Goodwill, I got a sleep mask, a small Starbucks tumbler, and a cute pink desk lamp.  The lamp is very cute and it's very bright!  I  love it.  It's a nice size too.  It takes up less space on my desk than my old desk lamp.  Look at how cute it is:

PXL_20210217_002234996.MP

It has a USB port on the side, too!  I like all of my finds.  The sun actually came out today. After days of rain and ice and just general yuck, that was nice! Of course, we are supposed to have more winter weather this week.  I am going to put together a kit tomorrow in case I lose power.  I have some Sterno on the way, I have my Sterno 'stoves' out and ready.  I am going to put together that with candles, various foods that don't need to be cooked, extra blankets, etc.  I also have the jump box that has ports on it to charge things.  This way I can at least have my phone and laptop charged if need be. I also am making some ice cubes to fill a cooler. I probably won't have enough to fill a cooler by the time I need it, but I'll have some ice, so I'll be good. I would go to the store tomorrow and get a few more things but I heard that the stores here insane today from two different people.  I have enough! lol

Thrifting and an apology

I meant to write in here last night and it wasn't until right after midnight that I remembered I hadn't done it.  Oops!  The whole day was weird yesterday. First I thought it was Wednesday. I had to look at my phone to confirm that it was, in fact, Tuesday!  Then, later, I thought it was the weekend. I really need to start getting more sleep! Ah!

My friend texted me today and mentioned going to Reidsville to eat at Pete's.  We went later than usual, so we only got to go to the Goodwill and not the Salvation Army store.  I found several great things tonight.  I got a Starbucks VIA mixer tumbler, a metal jack o lantern sign thing, a pink over the door thing with hooks for hanging things, a little plastic storage container, a nice pencil bag (new with tags!), and an ice towel. I was new too.  Oh, I also got a clock radio.  It's a GE brand and it's in pretty nice condition, with only a few scratches.  It works well and that is the important thing.  The display is green like my bedside radio.  It also picks up my favorite Classical music station and it sounds great. Very nice!

My friend found another GPS! This one was cheaper than the one he gave me and it's newer! He was pleased because all of his are older ones.  This was a nice find for him.  I am still hoping to be able to do an update on mine.  I'll try again later.  Since we took my car this time and the last time we went to Reidsville, he topped off my gas tank for me when we got back in town.  That was nice.

My replacement hard drive is being shipped soon!  I hope to get it so I can backup stuff again. I'd like to be able to give my friend his drive back.  They haven't started to try to recover my old drive yet. They could take a while. I'm happy they are sending the replacement in the meantime!

Desktop yoga mat?

That is basically what this is!  I wanted to protect my desk to keep it from any issues so I looked up desk mats.  I found one that would fit my desk.  The writing surface isn't huge, so I had to measure it to get the right size.  The only thing is, the smallest one height-wise is also the smallest one lengthwise! I wish I could get one that covered the majority of my desk. For now this will do.

PXL_20210206_202406396.MP
PXL_20210206_202406396.MP

It's nice, it's pink on one side and blue on the other.  When I was looking these up and had ordered this one, I remembered I had an old Yoga mat that I didn't use anymore. It wasn't a real thick one and it was blue on one side and green on the other. I was thinking, I could cut this and make my own custom mat for my desk.  There is only one problem. I can't find the Yoga mat!  I moved it from the container I keep my other mats in.  It only holds four and I took this one out to fit those in.  Now, I can't remember what I did with the other mat. D'oh!  I was thinking it would look pretty good on my desk and it would get used, but I can't find it. It's around here somewhere! :p

So, that came yesterday.  Today I got another two packages from Amazon. I ordered a set of washi that has been on my wish list forever and I also ordered some coffee stickers!  They had a set of 40 some (45 I think?) for $4 and some change.  I looked and they had the same display box but it had twice as many stickers for $5 and change.  I ordered that and I'm glad I did. It was two of the first one.  So, an extra set of stickers for just a few dollars more. Good deal! Here are the stickers and the washi:

Untitled

The stickers are neat. There are two of each design in the box so I have four of each with the two boxes.  The washi is pretty and it's one of my favorite brands I've found on Amazon, it's Moleshine brand.  Always nice quality and very pretty! As you can see on the bottom left of the washi box, they added a skinny roll, too!

Yesterday, my friend and I went to Reidsville and ate at Pete's and then went thrifting.  At the Goodwill, he found a TomTom GPS and bought it and said it was for me! Yay!  It's an older one, but it works well and it's got a nice size screen.  He had bought me a tiny TomTom at the Goodwill in Longs SC on the way home from the last beach trip and I liked it, but it was hard to push the screen as it was so small.  He saw this one and bought it.  We set it up and it works fine. The maps may be a bit out of date, but they should be okay.  It will still get us where we need to go, just maybe not to a specific restaurant or whatnot if we don't have the address. It will be nice to have a GPS in my car so I don't have to use my phone and Google Maps.  I love my Google, but I don't want to run down my phone battery!

The day before that, when I forgot to post again, I went and got my car washed, filled up with gas, and got my oil changed  They charged $10 more than last time and I wasn't very happy about that but I needed the oil change so I went ahead and got it.  I like keeping on top of any maintenance on my Goontz!

Whoops!

I meant to post last night. I got into a pretty intense writing spell and forgot. Sorry! I got my writing done and meant to post to my blog and then I left the computer and didn't post.  Oops.  I didn't have much to say yesterday anyway as I didn't even leave the house!  Today, my friend got off of work early and wanted me to ride with him to look at houses for sale. We did and he got us food at Biscuitville. I hadn't eaten there in ages and it was so good!  We looked at several houses before heading home.

I had been home for a bit when I realized that I had an offer for 25 bonus stars for today only at Starbucks. I ran over there and got a peppermint white mocha and it was so good!  While I was out, I ordered a couple of the medium $5.99 pizzas from Dominos for pickup. Those were not 'so good'. They were actually pretty disappointing.  The last two times I got this exact same order, it was delicious.  They must have had an off night. Oh well! :(

While my friend and I were out earlier, we went to a local thrift store that I always forget about and never go to  We have a Salvation Army thrift store here.  I found a pair of new or at least they looked brand new capris. (All clothes half off today!)  I also found three ceramic jack o lanterns, some card stock for scrapbooks, a little mini backpack, and two packages of washi tape!  It's the brand that is only sold at Walmart and I will not shop at Walmart, so I was happy to see this. It's the washi that is actually individual flower petals.  It's so pretty!  I wanted to try some but not if I had to go to Walmart.  The little mini backpack is from the same line at Walmart.  Oh, I also got some adorable vinyl stickers too!  I also found something absolutely amazing.  My 'new' MacBook Pro that my friend got me had the original Apple charger, but not the extension cord.  I had been watching a few on eBay and was going to buy one eventually.  I looked over in this one bin with assorted electronics in the store and saw a white cord.  It had black paper/cardboard around it.  It was the extension cord I wanted! It was a whopping $2!  It retails at the Apple store for right at $20.  This is a legit Apple one too, I looked.  It must have come in someone's laptop box and they didn't use the extender.  I got a deal!  :)  I usually just plug the MBP in with the regular plug because I use it at my desk.  I like the extension cord if I want to move it around further. It will come in handy on beach trips as the power strip might not be as close as it is at home!  I love finds like that. It would also come in handy if I can ever go to Starbucks and sit inside again.  ^_^ Oh how I miss going to Starbucks, sitting, and staying for a few hours.  I looked in wistfully tonight as I drove out of the drive-thru.

I hope to write a bit tonight.  I changed my blog layout back to the macaroons. I'll probably change it again tomorrow.  There is a new layout that Typepad has introduced and I'd like to use it but it's not customizable.  If I could change some things around, I'd love it.  Oh well! :)

Meh

Well, the snow didn't last long.  We got rain and some sleet too.  It was pretty much a bust.  Oh well.  Maybe we will get one nice snow this year.  I didn't go out today just in case the roads were icy.  I got all my usual Sunday stuff done.  I got a good deal of writing done too! :)  I was happy with that and I can't wait to re-read it.  I am sure I'll add a few things to it and edit it some tomorrow.  I love writing in Scrivener and being able to edit as I need. It's so much easier than writing in a basic word program!  I also want to give props to Evernote for always being there to back up my work!
