Goontz Feed

No thrifting today!

My friend and I have decided to postpone our thrifting trips until after the beach trip. Well, we'll be thrifting at the beach, but we always do that! I want to save what little money I have left for the trip.  He has the trip, taxes, and the possibility of a car purchase before the trip.  He wants to get a larger vehicle than the one he has for trips and such.  I love being able to take mine, but if he gets one, I won't have to worry about so many miles being added to Goontz!

I wrote a LOT today.  I finally stopped at 4567 words! @_@; Yes, I was on a roll! I am now going to relax a bit until bedtime. I want to re-read what I wrote, too! :)

Saturday

So, I didn't post the last two days. Sorry about that. I meant to yesterday, but it didn't happen.  My friend and did a thrift trip yesterday. I didn't think we were because I was broke. My friend said he'd spot me if I found anything I wanted.   I agreed and we went. We went to Reidsville, Walkertown, and Mayodan.  I found a pair of Ryka shoes at the Salvation Army. I love Ryka and these looked pretty new and they were my size. They will replace my daily shoes that were also a pair of Ryka that I bought brand new at the beach in 2018.

At the Reidsville Goodwill, I found a nice Starbucks holiday mug from 2013. I'm always happy to find those.  My friend was looking in electronics and I found something.  We checked it out and it was a vintage hair dryer from Sears. It's all in one. It's a plastic case and everything is inside. The bonnet for your hair, the hose that goes to it, and the power cord. Totally compact and totally cool! It was $6." It's even got a built-in plastic carry handle. My friend said it was small enough to carry to the beach. He is right!

We went from there to Walkertown.  Last time, I saw and left a Fossil bag.  I was sort of hoping it would still be there, but it wasn't.  It was priced at $20 which is not bad for a Fossil, but I didn't have it.  I didn't have it yesterday either, but my friend said he'd spot me the money if I found another purse I wanted.  This particular Goodwill prices nicer name brand handbags are a bit more. There was an off-white or Bone as they call it Sak bag.  I debated on it and debated on it and left it. As we sat in the parking lot, my friend told me that if I wanted it, I better get it or I'd regret it. He was right. I want back and got it. I took a picture of it today:

PXL_20210501_173242837.MP

It's lovely and I love it!  I don't think I've ever mentioned the seat covers. If I have, sorry! We found those on another thrift trip some time back at the Salvation army. The pink and black looks nice with Goontz dark interior. :)

Friday fun with thrifting.....

So, I thought my friend and I were not going to thrift today. He had the day off and didn't mention it so I was settled in at my desk ready to spend the day on my Mac and write and just enjoy my day.  He had texted me earlier this morning and didn't mention going, so I thought that was that. He texted around 2 this afternoon and mentioned going. I really wanted to just stay at home, but I agreed to go.  I dressed and went out and washed off Goontz.  It's pollen season and my Goontz had a layer of yellow/green pollen all over.  I got that done and then waited for my friend.  He came and we went to Reidsville. He ate at Bojangles and then went to the Salvation Army store.  I found a Sony clock radio for $2, a pack of Post-it note page flags, (Well two packs), and a package of pretty napkins. Don't judge me! lol  We went to the Goodwill and I only found one item. It's a Jack o lantern metal candle holder that originally came from Bath and Body Works. It was very cute and caught my eye so I got it.

We then went to the Goodwill in Walkertown NC. I found a little purple jack o lantern candle holder in there.  I also found a very nice little cabinet/stand. Here is a picture.  It still has the letter stickers from where it was assembled and the price sticker.  It was only $8 and I am not sure where I'm going to put it, but it's in excellent condition. The drawer works well and the shelf is adjustable.

Point Blur_Apr162021_225035

It will be a nice addition to my house.  I just have to figure out where I'm going to use it!  We went to Mayodan after that and I only found two things.  A disk holder and a sleep mask.  The disk holder is a Fellows brand and it was for computer disks back in the day. It will be perfect to hold my specialty Starbucks cards.  I was going to search for one of these for that purpose and this one was there so I got it. It's in great shape, too! Speaking of Starbucks cards, several I ordered on eBay arrived today!  I was happy to get them. I only have one thing that I'm waiting on now and that is a Starbucks tumbler.  I saw it in-store when I went to the 'new' Starbucks in Greensboro and I knew I wanted it.  I decided to look on eBay. I knew I'd have to pay more for it, but I found one that was only a few dollars more with free shipping so that saves me trying to find it at the local Starbucks. :)

I forgot to mention that I found a Fossil purse at the Walkertown store but I had to pass it up as it was priced pretty high.  I was short on funds. My friend got the little cabinet for me. He would have gotten the purse too and let me pay him back for both, but I'm still doing monthly payments on the Docs! We went back to Reidsville before heading home and ate at Carmela's.

*CLUNK*

That is the noise I'm going to make in a bit!  I'm a tired pup!  What did I do? Why didn't I post yesterday? Well, let me tell you.  First of all, I fully planned to post yesterday.  It got late and I was behind and it was almost midnight before I got my clean bed linen back on my bed, so I didn't get to post here. Sorry about that.  I'll make up for it because I have things to share.

Yesterday, I did my usual things, I washed my hair, my bed linen, and put away the laundry I had washed the day before.  It was a lot. I also decided to order some Chinese from one of my favorite local places on DoorDash.  I had to wait almost an hour before an actual Dasher went to get my order, but once they got a Dasher on the case, it went pretty quickly.  She brought it and it was delicious! They have a section of their menu that has a 'combination dinner'. They have three. I get a certain one every time.  It's beef pepper steak, fried rice, and an egg roll. You also get a choice of wonton or egg drop soup.  I ADORE their wonton soup, so that is what I picked.  I asked for the egg roll to be left off just as I always do in the restaurant unless I'm with friends that want it.  They delivered!  The wonton soup was twice as much as you'd get eating in and the steak and rice were too. It was delicious and I didn't feel as bad paying the extra to have it delivered since I got so much food.  I enjoyed every bite! I haven't been in over a year because the friend I do stuff with all the time doesn't like Chinese food so I have to go with a different friend. Unfortunately, she is the one that is currently suffering from Covid, so she couldn't go!

Today, I wanted to just relax and do nothing, but that was not to be.  I really needed a few things at the grocery store. I was completely out of several things and I was about to be out of a few more.  I went ahead and got my groceries.  I got a ton of stuff so I should be set for a while.  I spent more than I planned, but I got a lot.  I also got some paper goods. (TP, paper towels, and tissues)  I am pretty set for the month. I do need to get some windshield wiper fluid but other than that, I think I'm set.  I ran over to the touchless car wash to give Goontz a bath.  After the wash, I went to the grocery tore and home.  I planned to stay in after that and recover. (LOL)  My friend texted and wanted to walk, so I gave in and said, ok.  We walked and it was nice, but I was tired and really didn't want to! :p  I took a  few pretty pictures to share, though.

Impromtu Thrift!

Yeah, there were absolutely no plans to thrift today.  My friend has been saying he'd put new tires on Goontz since we've driven it so much and it was needed new tires when he got it.  He took it today and got tires.  He then wanted me to drive it to see how it felt with the new tires.  That was nice.  I switched spots with him and we went by Wendy's for me to grab a bite to eat as it was past my lunchtime.  After that, we went to Cookout so he could get a shake.  He mentioned drying on the highway and said something about Eden, NC.  I said, how about Martinsville instead.  That is what we did.  We went to the Goodwill in Martinsville and the one in Bassett (just up the road about 10 minutes).  At the first GW, I found some Avery address labels new in the package, three packs of business card binder pages, (I use these for my Starbucks cards), a purple binder with some divider inserts already in there, a cute little canvas bag, and a plastic kitchen spoon!  That was a nice little haul.  We went to the Bassett one and I found a pair of Dr. Martens in my size that looked almost brand new.  They were $40 and I didn't have that much, so my friend got them and I'm going to pay him back $10 a month for the next four months. Cool!  They are pretty cool, they are a bit shiny and look either purple or burgundy.  Just depends on the lighting.  They are very cool and I've never had a pair of Docs.  Here they are:

PXL_20210325_004436520.MP

Cool, yes? My size, in great condition for a good price, and they are comfy!  I was very pleased to get them.  The only other thing I found in there was a puzzle.  I got it for .69¢. I really need to start working on puzzles again!  While we were out, we went by the car wash and washed Goontz.  Later, we took it by another car wash and I vacuumed it well.  My Goontz has new tires, is clean inside and out and I'm pleased! ^_^

Here is the cute little bag. It has blueberries on it! It has a tag that says, "Stonewall Kitchen" in it.  I just thought it adorable and had to have it. It rang up a whole .99¢!

Impromptu thrift trips are fun!  In other news, my set of Styluses that I ordered from Amazon came today.  I also received my order from eBay of two DS games. One is Scribblenauts and one is an Adventure Time game! YAY! The AT game is, "Hey Ice King! Why Did You Steal Our Garbage??!" :p

Thrifting, yes, big haul, no.

We did a thrift trip today. We went to Reidsville to Salvation Army and Goodwill. I didn't buy anything in SA, but I found a cool Starbucks tumbler from 2006 in Goodwill! :) I add pictures at the end of this post.  From there, we went to the little restaurant we found on Friday in Stokesdale and ate.  When then went to the Goodwill in Mayodan. I found a box of Rolodex cards that fit the little Rolodex I bought Friday. It has 1000 in it, so I should not run out anytime soon! :p That was a whole dollar, too! We left there and headed to Eden.  Since we were in Eden, we stopped by the Goodwill there. There were two Sak bags and a Fossil wallet. I didn't get any of those though as I was already low on cash and I couldn't see spending that much.  The bags were nice but not really my style. The wallet I would have gotten just because it was Fossil. It really wasn't one I would use.  The only thing I bought in there was a set of whiteboard markers.  I never seem to have a working whiteboard marker when I need it.  This was a pack of ten with some cool colors other than the usual blue, green, red, and black. :) It was a decent little trip and my friend was nice enough to fill my car up when we got back since we've taken two thrifting trips since I filled it up recently. :)

PXL_20210316_235653350.MP

I just realized that you can see Homer going, "Whoo Hoo!" in the background. He must like my tumbler. :p

Good grief!

I decided to flatten boxes today to recycle.  When my friend gets me to pick up guitars or has them sent here, he leaves the boxes here sometimes.  I had a bunch and they were taking up a lot of room. I had to empty all the packing in them and flatten them.  That took a lot longer than I would have thought.  It took many trips to get them all out to my car. I had to put the back seat down to fit them all then there.  I piled all the paper packing on top.  I went to the recycle center and luckily it wasn't full. I dumped all of that and then went back to get the plastic packing.  I went back to the recycle center an had to wait for one guy who, I swear, looked like he was putting the recycling in one thing at a time. ~_~;;;; He finally left and I found out that the plastic bin was pretty full. I was lucky enough to be able to get my plastic in there and then headed out.

I went to the car wash and gave Goontz a much-needed wash!  I also went and got gas while out.  Now I have a clean car and a full tank of gas. :) I thought about getting Starbucks while out, but I ended up not going by there.  Maybe this weekend.  Who knows?  I might get crazy this weekend and clean more at home.  Stranger things have happened. :p

UGH!

I went to print something tonight and my printer wasn't working.  I went in to try and fix it and now it won't connect to my network. ~_~;;;;;  I have done troubleshooting and nothing. I CAN print if I have the printer connected via USB but that defeats the purpose of a wireless printer. I will mess with it again tomorrow. I've spent far too much time on it tonight when I had other things I wanted to be doing!  Let's hope I can clear it up.  It is so frustrating when stuff like this happens.

I didn't do a lot today since I'm still under the weather.  I did go to the car wash and then to the gas station to fill up Goontz!  I went by Starbucks while I was out ad had a Blonde honey almond milk flat white! lol That is fun to order, let me tell you! :P I'm going to write for a bit and then relax.  I wrote earlier, so I just want to add more words. I'm going to try one more thing that was suggested and that was to re-start my router. I wanted to post this before I did that!  Wish me luck!

SPOILER: IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :P

BLEAH!!!!!!!

That is what I think of today's weather! It was cold, icy, and rainy all day.  A lot of the city was without power.  Luckily I wasn't one of the houses without power.  The city near us, Martinsville, VA where we do our thrift runs to was completely out.  The power was out for the entire city! That had to suck for them.  It is back now there and they are still working on the outages here. I hope for everyone's sake that the power comes back on for them.

We are still under a winter weather advisory so there may be more power outages. Hopefully, if my neighborhood gets an outage, it will be when I'm ready for bed! I an add extra blankets and be snuggly warm!  I wrote a LOT today.  I had a part from yesterday that I added a lot of dialogue to and then I wrote another long scene. I'm very happy with it.  I can't wait to re-read it and see if it's as good as I think.

I didn't do much today except to stay in and try to stay warm and dry. I didn't go out because there were trees down all over the city (thus the power outages!).  I didn't want to risk my Goontz! It's supposed to be rainy tomorrow too, I'll decide I plan to go out or not then.  I probably won't as I would have to put air in the tire and it is messy out there!  I have all my usual Sunday things to do tomorrow, too.  I meant to wash dishes today so I'd have a clear spot to wash my hair tomorrow, but it's so cold in my kitchen that I just didn't feel like messing with it.

I think I am going to get off the computer for the night and get on some comfy pajamas and get in my bed and relax until bedtime.  I am hoping to be able to sleep well tonight. I've been sleeping very poorly lately and I need a good night's sleep!

Desktop yoga mat?

That is basically what this is!  I wanted to protect my desk to keep it from any issues so I looked up desk mats.  I found one that would fit my desk.  The writing surface isn't huge, so I had to measure it to get the right size.  The only thing is, the smallest one height-wise is also the smallest one lengthwise! I wish I could get one that covered the majority of my desk. For now this will do.

PXL_20210206_202406396.MP
PXL_20210206_202406396.MP

It's nice, it's pink on one side and blue on the other.  When I was looking these up and had ordered this one, I remembered I had an old Yoga mat that I didn't use anymore. It wasn't a real thick one and it was blue on one side and green on the other. I was thinking, I could cut this and make my own custom mat for my desk.  There is only one problem. I can't find the Yoga mat!  I moved it from the container I keep my other mats in.  It only holds four and I took this one out to fit those in.  Now, I can't remember what I did with the other mat. D'oh!  I was thinking it would look pretty good on my desk and it would get used, but I can't find it. It's around here somewhere! :p

So, that came yesterday.  Today I got another two packages from Amazon. I ordered a set of washi that has been on my wish list forever and I also ordered some coffee stickers!  They had a set of 40 some (45 I think?) for $4 and some change.  I looked and they had the same display box but it had twice as many stickers for $5 and change.  I ordered that and I'm glad I did. It was two of the first one.  So, an extra set of stickers for just a few dollars more. Good deal! Here are the stickers and the washi:

Untitled

The stickers are neat. There are two of each design in the box so I have four of each with the two boxes.  The washi is pretty and it's one of my favorite brands I've found on Amazon, it's Moleshine brand.  Always nice quality and very pretty! As you can see on the bottom left of the washi box, they added a skinny roll, too!

Yesterday, my friend and I went to Reidsville and ate at Pete's and then went thrifting.  At the Goodwill, he found a TomTom GPS and bought it and said it was for me! Yay!  It's an older one, but it works well and it's got a nice size screen.  He had bought me a tiny TomTom at the Goodwill in Longs SC on the way home from the last beach trip and I liked it, but it was hard to push the screen as it was so small.  He saw this one and bought it.  We set it up and it works fine. The maps may be a bit out of date, but they should be okay.  It will still get us where we need to go, just maybe not to a specific restaurant or whatnot if we don't have the address. It will be nice to have a GPS in my car so I don't have to use my phone and Google Maps.  I love my Google, but I don't want to run down my phone battery!

The day before that, when I forgot to post again, I went and got my car washed, filled up with gas, and got my oil changed  They charged $10 more than last time and I wasn't very happy about that but I needed the oil change so I went ahead and got it.  I like keeping on top of any maintenance on my Goontz!

Thrifting trip!

So, my friend texted today and was going to head home early for work as he had a package coming to his house and there was the one coming to my house.  He was able to get the one that was coming to my house at the hub.  He wanted to know if I wanted to go eat, I did!  I am glad I did because if not, I would not have seen much snow.  We did our full thrift trip. Reidsville, Eden, and Martinsville.  I got a lot of stuff. I actually wrote a list. lol Here it is:

Thrift trip goodies

  • Canon Selphy Printer
  • French coffee press
  • milk frother
  • backpack
  • stainless water bottle
  • candle
  • jack o lantern that is a lantern lol
  • three coffee themed mugs
  • stainless steel straws
  • jack o lantern votive holder with candle
  • iPad Mini case
  • Relic wallet with a dime in it. :p
  • Envelopes
  • burger stack salt and pepper shakers
  • 1 snowman shaker
  • colorful jingle bell wreath with snowmen
  • metal colorful decorative tree
  • A book on aromatherapy
  • phone case looks like Gameboy
  • metal tape measure
  • brass looking little tree with colorful bells as ornaments
  • Halloween stickers
It was a good haul!  The Canon Selphy is a photo printer and it looks like it has everything except the CD to install the drivers to the computer.  I am pretty sure you can print straight from the printer as it has slots of SD cards and such.  I am not going to try to use it tonight as I'm very tired. I was going to install it on the MacBook Pro, but the software that I was able to find online was too old.  I'll see tomorrow if I can print from the actual printer.  The box included photo paper and cartridges.

The French coffee press was brand new in the box. I have wanted one for a while now.  The milk frother was a whole.25¢!  The backpack was sturdy and nice, the water bottle was brand new, too.  I looked up a few of the things I got and found that I made some damn good deals!  It was a nice haul for sure. :)   Here are a few snow pictures I took in Martinsville. They got a lot more snow than we did!

Thrifting!

So, I went thrifting yesterday with my friend.  We did our usual circuit. Reidsville, Eden, and Martinsville.  I didn't get a lot of stuff, but I got a few fun things.  I found three different jack o' lanterns, (one was a stack and it was still in the box!), I got a cute Hallmark branded snowman dish, a snowman soap, he was so strange looking I felt sorry for him and felt he needed a home. I got a coupon organizer pouch thing, a pouch with a galaxy print (an Ipsy pouch), a cupcake mug, a wireless keyboard, etc.  I found a vintage puzzle still in the box sealed!  I also got this little snowman thing.  It's a snowman that sits in a glass and it's supposed to have a floating thing that you float on top after filling it with water and a layer of oil and light a wick. The floaty thing and the winks are missing, but the snowman in the glass is cute and it came in its original box from 1979. Nifty!  I think that is everything except a little organizer box for Zip disks. Now that is a blast from the past!  It was new with the plastic still on it. I didn't need it, but I got it anyway.  I feel like I'm forgetting something.

When I got home, I checked online to see if I could get some blue lights somewhere while they are having after the holiday sales.  Target was out as I had already seen.  I checked Lowes and they had some and they were half price!  They weren't available to pick up in-store, but they were available for shipping.  I went ahead and got six strands.  I'll have an extra just in case.  Also, these are a different brand than the ones I always get at Target.  I hope they last longer, but we'll see!

As of now, I've done all my regular Sunday things.  The only thing left is to put the bed linen back on the bed.  I went to the grocery store to pick up a few things that they were out of when I went last week.  I also needed a few other things. I got the other things, but they were still out of the two things I needed. D'oh!  That is so weird.  They are either not getting stock because of Covid, or the stockers just aren't filling the shelves.  Hopefully I'll get the things I need soon.

For now, I am going to put the linens back on the bed and then write. I wrote a good bit two days ago. I didn't write last night and I am really wanting to get some writing done tonight.  Bed linen and then writing!  One more thing.  I took a picture of my 'new' Fossil bag in my car the other day.  It's so pretty in natural light.  My Fossil bag sitting in my Goontz. :p

Goodbye 2020!

I crashed early and hard last night and I needed it.  I was thinking about things before bed and realized that I had stopped setting up my 2021 bullet journal some time back. D'oh!!!!!!  Today, I looked and the things I would use immediately are there.  I still need to add a "21 in 2021" tracker, my NaNoWriMo tracker(s), beach bingo, and some other things I wanted to add. I went ahead and got the first two months done, though!  I have my January habit tracker,  February habit tracker, and I have the weeklies for those months.  I'm adding something new this year.  On the page after the last week of the month, I'm doing a monthly recap page to add anything I want to remember. I can write stuff or glue in things for memories.  I think it will be a nice addition.  I decided to go with a printed habit tracker to save time this year. I found the one I had downloaded several years ago and looked it over.  It didn't have enough lines for all the things I track, so I made a copy of it and then cut part of the bottom off and taped it to the tracker.  This way I added a few lines. Then, I made a copy of that. I went ahead and printed out a year's worth of them and I have the taped one I made to use if I want to make more, or I can just use a blank one I printed. I printed an extra just in case.  I always loved this habit tracker and I really wanted to use it but I track more things than I did when I started.  This way, I can still use this cute tracker and track more. This is going to save me SO much time going forward!

I started my actual pages further into the Leuchtturm too.  I hope to use up all my pages this time!  I always have some pages left. I don't want to have that this time.  I'm sorry I didn't post the last two days. I just got to doing things and never got around to it.  I'm going to try my best to post to my blog every day in 2021!  I don't know if I can do it, but I'm going to try my best. I also plan to get my pen pal letters written and stay caught up with them.  Yes, I STILL haven't written any.  2020 has just not been the best year.  Yes, some good things have happened to me, my friend got me Goontz and my 15" MacBook Pro, but the rest of the year was pretty nasty.  My hope is that 2021 is a wonderful year.  Let's hope that we are able to defeat Covid-19 and try to get our lives back to normal!

AHH!!!!!!!!

So I was going to write some more today. I wrote a nice little bit yesterday and all.  So, I have been meaning to clean this one area of my room. It's the corner where the trash can is and it gets a little messy.  I decided to pull everything out, sweep, dust, and toss any garbage.  There was so much stuff back there that missed the trash can! lol. I got all that up and everything looks so much better.  I thought it would take me about half an hour.  It was several hours of work. D'oh!  It's done now and it looks so much better, so I'm happy to have it done.  I'll try to write more tomorrow to make up since it is too late to start on any writing tonight.  I have to clean off my bed and get settled in and relax a bit so I can sleep tonight.

I went out today to get my Zeeops mission on Munzee and since it was a little over 50˚, I went to the car wash! My Goontz needed it badly.  I did that and then did my Munzee and came home. I wasn't even tempted by Starbucks.  Go me! :p. Now I just have to sweep up the area where I moved everything to when I moved the stuff and I'll be ready to relax.  Oh, forgot to mention, while I was on the floor cleaning, a big spider came walking by.  I captured him and released him safely outside. He wasn't paying rent, after all! :p

The River is always nice

I did my daily Zeeops mission today in Munzee and it was to capture a jewel Munzee.  I looked on the map to find some and there were several at the YMCA.  I went and looked and found one of four that were supposed to be there! I was happy to find the one since the other ones seem to be gone.  I walked down to the river and took a few pictures while I was down that way.  I thought it was a pretty day for it.  here are a few of the pictures I took.

This last one is the huge rock formation that is in the parking lot near the street.  You can see the street light above it. I thought it looked pretty neat and I took a picture of the rocks.

I enjoyed going down and taking pictures.  I was also glad to get my Munzee.  After this, I went to get gas and filled up my car.  Goontz is full of gas and ready to roll. :p
