Goontz Feed

Paper clip!

My post has nothing to do with paper clips, but I had no title, so there you go! I used to do this a long time ago on my blog when I had no title.  I don't really have a lot to share today as I mainly stayed at home. I did run out this afternoon and ran Goontz through the car wash. I rode around a bit. I decided to pick up something to eat for dinner, too. I called a local restaurant that is an old favorite that I haven't been to in ages. I called in, drove a bit to pass the time, and then went and picked it up. It was delicious and a nice change. It wasn't too expensive either for what I got. I just wish I could have had more sour cream. I like a bit of potato with my sour cream. :p

Birthday time

So, it's my birthday. Another year down in this so-called life. I didn't do much. I had a delivery from Amazon Prime. I bought myself some rechargeable batteries to use in my Shortwave radio and they came today. Exciting, huh? :p

I was able to get 8 AA batteries. My little Eton takes four so I can use four and have another set charging or charged ready as a backup. They were less than $10 so that was a great deal. I tried several different 6-volt adapters and all caused static so batteries were the way to go. I didn't want to have to keep buying batteries all the time, so I went for some rechargeable ones.  I can't wait to try them and see how long they go. That last set of regular batteries that I put in my radio have lasted a lot longer than the first set. I was able to turn off the lighted display when it's not in use and that helped immensely!  I've been on this set for at least a week now. The others had only lasted a few days. I'm hoping to get at least a couple of weeks' charge out of the rechargeable ones when I start using those.

I had to run out to get my birthday drink from Starbucks! I also got gas while out because I got 20 cents extra off of gas today because of the reward card I use and it is my birthday. I already get 5¢ a gallon off with them, so today it was .25¢. I washed Goontz while out and went by the grocery store. I wanted a small cake for my birthday, but like last year, all they had left was chocolate. ~_~; I got cupcakes instead. Of course, I FORGOT that I bought cupcakes when I got to Starbucks and got a lime-frosted oat bar to go with my latte. :p Oops.

I went by the post office while out. I haven't checked my box in a while. I also needed to mail off something. Hopefully, I'll get a QSL from that soon!  I had a yellow card in my box so now I have to go back during regular hours and stop by the desk. Not sure what that is. Nothing has shown up in informed delivery. Hmm.

So, busy day, I totally forgot that I do laundry today and just put that in to start washing a bit ago. I probably will not be putting that away today! lol. Right now, I'm just trying to cool down from all the running around. I want to pull out the Shortwave and see what's going on the bands. I meant to get to that earlier but it's been a day!

Tired with no thrifting!

I got a lot accomplished today. I'm so tired and I have one more thing on my to-do list. That might just get put off until tomorrow! I got the front lawn mown, the dishes washed, and the laundry washed. It's in the dryer waiting for me to put it away. I planned to do that and then got distracted doing some organizing and cleaning in my room. I got so hot running around that I decided to sit and cool off a bit and then see if I wanted to go back and put away the laundry. It would save me time tomorrow!

I had to run out on an errand to pick up a few things. That led to me going to pick up a handful of groceries. Not many, though. I also went to the car wash and gave Goontz a bath while I was out. I decided to stop by one of my favorite Mexican restaurants and get a to-go order. That was dinner.  After that, I got to running around cleaning and doing things so now, I just want to rest. I probably am going to go back and put away the laundry to save myself that tomorrow.  I also want to listen to the Shortwave. That, as always is fun. I meant to be doing that long before now, but I've been so busy. I am sure there are different broadcasts on the weekends. :)

Welcome August!

Well, August is finally here! It's my birthday month and it's also the last full month of summer. YAY! I am ready for fall weather. Colorful leaves and hoodies. 💕. I had to drop off a package today and the dropbox was near Starbucks. I was going to Starbucks anyway for my first day of the month drink as usual. I got both of those errands run and went to the car wash and cleaned up Goontz while I was out. I had meant to also recycle today.  I came home and did other things and then decided that I would go recycle. I went right at 8. It's still light out, so why not? I went to the place I usually do, but there was a car sitting there parked nearby with people in it. I wasn't sure what they were doing, but they weren't recycling! I didn't feel comfortable at all, so I left and went to one of the other recycling centers in town. It was the one at the mall which is where Starbucks is! lol, I did not make a repeat trip to Starbucks, but I didn't get my recycling done. Glad that is done. I wrote today but not as much as usual. I did get a really good idea for one of my other WIP so I might get that one out and work on it tomorrow. We'll see. As long as I write every day, I'm happy. Oh, and I did write over 1000 words, so that was great. I made a resolution to write every day even if it was just a few lines and I've stuck to it!

Sunday and Starbucks? Yes!

So, I posted last night that I'd tell you about yesterday. Let me do that first. I went to Starbucks last night to participate in two different star challenges I am in. I didn't get either. LOL!  One should have been half done and the other should have been completely done. The first, I didn't get by no fault of my own. The second, I didn't get enough. I was fifty cents short. D'OH!   While I was out, I washed Goontz, by the way. I also FINALLY got to try the lime frosted coconut bar and it was AMAZING!  Worth the wait!

So, today, I figure, maybe if I go get the second half of that first challenge, it will kick start the part that didn't show yesterday. Plus, I planned to get the other challenge. I missed it by a few cents again. ~_~; The guy on cash was 'newish' it seems and he was already confused so I just went with it. I even forgot to get a receipt! :( I try to get a receipt from new stores! New stores? Yes, I went to the one in Martinsville. Yay. It's very nice. I took one picture inside to show how big and spacious it is:

Nice, yes? I will definitely go back to that location in the future. As I was driving out, I saw that they not only have a drive-thru, but it's a double drive-thru! Nice! :). So, I got Starbucks two days in a row. Something I haven't done in a while! It usually only happens at the beach.

So, I got back to Danville, I went to fill up Goontz, and came home.  I have all my chores done for today except putting my bed linen back on the bed. I will do that later. Yikes, I didn't realize it was almost eight already. Where did the day go?

Done and done!

I had two big chores I needed to do today.  They were,

  1. Get Goontz inspected and get my sticker
  2. Get groceries.

I was able to accomplish both with no trouble. YAY I did run Goontz through the car wash before taking him to the inspection place. Of course, it rained this afternoon! Oh well. He is now doubly clean and has his sticker. I'm glad I got that done and I am very happy to have my groceries. I have been putting it of, but I checked and the sale for the one item I really needed was not carrying over so I went and got it done. I'm glad all that is behind me!

I didn't write until after all of that. I got in and had to cool off a bit as It's nasty out and I only have air in my room. I did turn on a fan in my kitchen while putting away groceries and that did help a bit.  I am probably not doing anything tomorrow except my writing! LOL

*Dead*

Phew. I think I AM dead. Why? Well, it's hot here and I have been hiding in the air conditioning like I mentioned yesterday. Well, I desperately needed to mow the front lawn. I went out and got the mower started up after some work. (it has to be rigged up to run! LOL) So, I get it running, go and I"m mowing and it starts sputtering. I was hoping it would straighten out, but no. It cut off. I walked it all the way back around and put gas in it, worked on it a bit, and started it. Went and got the rest done. Just the front, mind you!  So, I do that, and then remember my friend asked if I would trim some of the bushes in my driveway so they didn't brush his car. They don't brush mine so I don't pay any attention to them hanging out a bit. I came in, grabbed my clippers, and went to do that. Keep in mind that I'm already hot as hell from mowing. I get that done and then rinse off Goontz as I needed to run out.  Well, I turn to go into the house and realize my keys are not on my wrist. D'OH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, I think and think, where the heck did they go?  I looked all around and then I remembered when I went out front to clip a few weeds at the street that my mower can't get, I laid them down. I go, thinking they are there and they are not. I think, okay, I know I didn't leave them there. What if I did leave them there? What if someone came and took them? They'll have a key to my house and to Goontz! I was freaking the f out as you can imagine. I looked in that area thoroughly, left, went back, and looked several more times. I had left my phone in my room, so I had no way to call anyone.  I remembered that I have a tool that lets me get in my back door so I went to get it and got inside. (Yeah, my backdoor has issues too!)  I look, hoping I had brought my keys in and forgot. Nope.

So, I got back out to the front spot AGAIN and look.  I go back around the house and just stood there trying to think. It was on my arm when I was clipping the branches, maybe when I tossed the branches to the side, they fell off? So, I look in the first place, nothing, I go to the next place, move the branches and BINGO!!!!!! I let out a HUGE sigh of relief. I gathered them up and came in. Of course, by now, I was so hot, that I was almost sick. I was soaked in sweat and just miserable.  I took off my soaked shirt, washed myself off with cool water, and came into my room with the air conditioner. I still need to run that errand, but it may wait until tomorrow!

Nope

I tried more things today and...nothing. Oh well. I did take a break from all that and run out and wash Goontz. He was pretty dirty from pollen, birds, and dirt! He is looking and I hope feeling much better now. I wrote, too. Now, I'm going to get away fro this desk and relax until bedtime. I need to sleep for about fifteen days. :(

Yum!

I tried the spaghetti today that I fixed yesterday. It's delicious!  I will definitely do it like this again. It was so easy and it was all done in one pot! I love my Instant Pot!  I don't know how my friend liked his portion yet. He was supposed to eat when he got home from work this afternoon and got involved in working on something.  I'm still waiting to hear what he thought. As for me, I like it. I had my portion for lunch and dinner. I gave him a lot more than I saved out for myself, so I really hope he likes it!

I finally got my butt out of the house today to do my recycling. I've been meaning to do it for weeks.  I did that and then ran Goontz to the car wash. I really need a car cover. The pollen and bird dropping are getting out of hand! :p  In other news did write for Camp today. I'm doing well to write every day and I'm consistent with my word count. The only thing is, I'm not sure I'm going to finish the book by the end of April. I WILL have 50,000 words, but I will not be at the end of my work. I think I might just get to my 50,000 words and continue until April 30. Then, I'll pick the story back up in July for the second Camp. Then, I have to find something totally new for November. We'll see how it goes.

Snow and ice, so nice :p

We had some weather today. It wasn't as bad as they were saying it was going to be.  At first, it was supposed to be up to afoot. We only got maybe a couple of inches, but it's snow and ice so it's more dangerous on the roads.  My street was a mess all day. People went by a few times, but nothing like usual. The city did come this evening and plowed the street, so that is good. :)  I took a few snow pictures to share.

Not very exciting as I didn't get outside to take more, but there you go. It was a great day to stay in and drink coffee. :p

Yesterday's thrift

Well, first of all, I had no clue we were going to thrift.  My friend texted me at noon and said he was getting off then and we'd go thriving.  I agreed and we headed to Reidsville.  We went to Salvation Army. I only got some vintage buttons there.  We ate and then went to the Goodwill there.  They had two Amazon basics office chairs for $15.00 each! These are $61 at Amazon. These chairs were brand new and assembled.  My friend didn't have room in his car to carry the chair so we bought it and let them know we'd be back to pick it up.  We headed back here and got Goontz and went back.  We picked it up and then headed on to a few more places.  I also got a Fossil handbag in Goodwill with owls on it while there. Very cute!  We got the chair and then went to Walkertown.  I found a few little things and one Fossil thing.  I got a tiny clear zippered backpack with colorful icons on it and a Fossil travel/toiletry bag.  Here is that:

It's really cute!  We went to Mayodan and I found a few assorted goodies. A 3 ring binder, two wallets, a cover for my old video iPod, and I think that is all.  I probably forgot something from one of the places.  By the way, here is the exact chair I got:

Amazing deal, yes? I loved that I didn't have to put it together too! :p  It still had the protective plastic on it and the little instruction booklet was included.  I love great thrift finds! As for my package, still nothing. I submitted a request via USPS as I said before and asked to be notified via email only.  They called. So annoying.  They left a voicemail and it was pretty much useless.  "It's stuck in transit... bla bla bla." No, really? Sheesh!

Busy me!

Today was busy and I still got my NaNo writing done.  I did my usual. Washing my hair and bed linen, putting away yesterday's laundry, etc.  Last night I was looking at Target's website to see if they had Christmas lights in yet. I have bought from them several times when my lights go out.  They didn't have any of the ones I usually get, so I looked around. Lowe's had them for $4 a box, but Home Depot had them for $3 a box. I decided I'd go with Home Depot.  I was going to do that tomorrow, but I checked today and saw that they were open until 8 pm and the curbside pickup was until 6. I bought six strands. I went to pick them up after a bit of a wait. The price was too good to pass up. I hope to get a few more strands in December if they still have them to store for future use.  Last year as I took the STILL WORKING lights off my tree, I plugged them in before wrapping them for storage and several of them no longer worked. WTF? UGH! So, if you remember, I tried to order some after the season last year but my order kept getting delayed and I finally had to just cancel the order.  These were available the same day and I got them myself! :p  Now when I put up my Yule tree I will have plenty of lights for it.

While I was out, I went by the car wash and gave Goontz a nice clean-up.  I also picked up one of those delicious KFC sammiches! :D I ate at the park before heading back home.  I still have to put the bed linen back on the bed, but other than that, I'm done for today.  The extra hour of sleep last night just made everything weird. Good old time change. BLEAH!

No thrift for me. Phooey!

I thought my friend and I were going thrifting today.  We talked about it yesterday, but it didn't come to pass. Boo! I did run down to the grocery store to pick up a few things I needed. I wanted to get myself a little cake for my birthday tomorrow, but they were all out of birthday cakes! Phooey!  I got a six-pack of cupcakes instead.  Pink and yellow ones.  They are delicious as I had one early! :p  A funny thing happened when I was in the store. I went down the cereal aisle and there are several kinds of bagged granola there. I love granola and it hit me that I had bought two bags on my last trip. Then, I was going over in my mind, well, did I buy them? Did I get home with them? Where the heck are they! So when I got home, I looked and they were in the cabinet! lol I would have found them eventually, but it was funny because I had forgotten all about them!

My little Goontz hit 100,000 miles today! :( Poor fella!  I took pictures of the odometer at 99,999 and at 10o,000! I plan to stay in tomorrow except for running to Starbucks to get my free birthday drink. It's only available on the day of your birthday. I hope to run over and get that, but I might just skip leaving the house altogether and just spend a quiet day at home. My plan is to just relax and do whatever I want, so going out may not happen!

D'oh!

I went to get my car inspected today. I got it inspected, but it needed front brakes. D'oh. I got them and the inspection sticker but I'm now pretty broke.  Thrifting trips will have to be very thrifty! :p  The place I went to has this cool old Pepsi bottle return rack. It's from way back in the day when soda all came in glass bottles and you returned them for the deposit. They had some old bottles in it, but most of them were newer ones. I thought it was cool in any case, so I took a picture to share.

They even had some old soda crates next to it as you can see in the second picture. I love vintage things. Of course, it would have been cooler had it been Coca Cola. :p
