Tuesday thrift

My friend and I went on our usual Tuesday thrift, but with a twist. We went to a few other cities too. We went to Reidsville first, as always. We ate there and then went to Salvation Army. I found two mugs, one Starbucks and one vintage mug. I also found a nice black Fossil purse. At Goodwill, I found a cute Paris-themed kitchen set (hot pad and hot glove), a cute little ornament, and a small zipper pouch. I'm going to use it for earbuds.  We went to Eden and I found a pouch that was FULL of pens/pencils and various items. Just look at how much they jammed in this pouch for $4

PXL_20220823_215354458

There are so many pens and pencils. Also some tape, a glue stick, paperclips, binder clips, Post-it flags, Post-it minis, and a nice stapler. All this for $4. Not bad, eh? We also went to the Salvation Army there too and I got a Happy Planner (without the discs). The last thing I got was a 2011 Starbucks tumbler. A It was a good little trip.

Fossil journal?

So I was looking up something on Facebook and this Fossil notebook came up.  I watched it but I was outbid which made me decide to look up Fossil notebooks.  Boy was I surprised! I didn't know it was a thing. The one I missed out on was a simple spiral-bound notebook, nothing I couldn't live without.  I found one that is a leather cover with a pen holder and pockets and a notebook.  I bought it and it came today! I also ordered a two-pack of Bic four-color pens.  These are exactly like the four-color pens from years ago (they do still make them) but these have nice pastel colors!  Aqua, Lime, Violet, and Pink!  Very nice.  I took a picture of the new notebook with the pack of pens and then a picture inside with the pen test sheet I did.  The cover of the inside notebook was plain with a little Fossil page inside. I made a color copy of that page and glued it to the plain front of the notebook and then decorated it with washi. I really like the way it turned out.   Look at this:

PXL_20210313_220037099.MP~2
PXL_20210313_220037099.MP~2

Of course, the colors are not exact.  The first picture I took in natural light at my desk, the second later tonight after dark.  I love it.  I can refill the little cover with notebooks in the future.  it's very cute and I love that it has a pen holder. (It is absolutely big enough for the Bic multi-pen, too!" It's a weird size, but I found a notebook that I have that will fit it.  I am going to cut out a piece of paper the size of the notebook so when I'm out and I see a notebook I think will fit I can check and make sure.  That is what I did when getting notebooks for my A5 TN!  I am so glad I found it.  It has a bit of pen marking on the front as you can see in the first picture. I'm hoping to get that off, but it not, it's not too bad. It might wear off with time.  The seller did mention it in the listing, so I knew about it.  This guy is going to have a nice home now. ^_^

Midweek thrift trip

My friend and I went on a midweek thrift trip.  We went to Reidsville. We ate at Camela's. It was delicious.  We were going to Salvation Army as we had enough time, but they are closed on Wednesday. D'oh!  We went to Goodwill and I found a few things. An old Tupperware divided plate (I have the plate but it's broken, so I was happy to find another one), a Halloween mug, a Seattle mug, a green plastic box (vintage check box), and a little souvenir 'horse' made of wood. The head is a clothespin! lol, It says "Straight from the horse's mouth" on it. It's cute! Since we didn't find a lot in there, we went to Mayodan to that Goodwill we just discovered last week.  I found a lot of stuff in here.  Two ceramic jack o lanterns (one small, one large), a pink zipper pouch (for small electronics, two grab bags of pencil and pens, (one had two Tombow brush pens in it! I didn't even see them when I picked it up), a SakRoots wallet, three desk bins (one long, one shorter, and a pencil cup), a pack of refills for a Zebra pen and a broken pen (I ordered a replacement pen on Amazon.), some Halloween string lights, and a secret message writing set. It had two invisible ink pens in it.  Very cute. I think that is all. It was a good haul!  We enjoyed this Goodwill much more this time. On the last trip, they were very busy, and it was hard to even look at stuff. This time, they weren't that busy and we were able to take our time.

Friday follies!

Well, I was trying to figure out how when I take the bed apart again that I can fix it for the last time!  I was thinking if I could find something to run across the bottom of the frame so that the box springs won't fall through.  I was thinking wooden slats or something of that sort. I was hoping I could find something to use on m property.  Well, I was working that out when my friend called.

He lives up the street. (His mom is my bestie). He wanted to bring back a book he borrowed back in the dark ages (lol) and I told him we could sit on the porch and for him to bring Cocoa!  He agreed and I got to spoil and love on Cocoa and see my little stinky too! lol

He stayed until well after my usual lunchtime, so I just skipped lunch and went right to dinner.  I had a snack in the afternoon, so it wasn't too bad.  I ate my last two pieces of pizza for my dinner. I'm sad it's gone, but it sure was good while it lasted!

I received a package from Amazon today.  I ordered some washi and some pens. The pens are blue ballpoints and they have a very nice size tip and the ink it dark and beautiful.  It flows soooo well.  I love them.  They are Zebra Z grip Flight pens.  Very nice and a definite new favorite!  Now, let me tell you about the washi.  This is a brand I have bought before. I have bought a LOT of washi from this brand. It's some damn good quality washi.  It's usually a good value for the money, too.  Well..... I opened the envelope my stuff came in today and I thought there had to be a mistake.  The box that my washi came in was small enough to fit in my hand and it was a multi roll pack!  I took a few pictures to share:

20200327_200531

This picture does not show how small these are.  I will now share another two pictures to give you an idea!

20200327_200909

The roll on the left is a regular size roll of washi from the same brand.  Look at the one on the right!

20200327_200909

Here is the picture of the whole box of wash with two regular rolls on the outside.

The washi is absolutely gorgeous, I just wish there were more of it!  There are ten rolls in all.  Two really wide ones, four regular widths, two smaller widths, and two of the mini width.

In case you want to see the pens, here is the box with one of these smooth writing bois!

No puzzle today

Yes, I didn't start a puzzle today.  I meant to, but I was working on my Linux laptop longer than I planned.  Last night, I was going to see bout getting out my Linux laptop and putting Journey on it. It's the journal app I used on my Android phone, my MacBook Pro, and online.  I saw where it said you could download a Linux version.  I was excited so I got the laptop out last night, plugged it in and booted it.  It booted and then I got an error message about missing packages.  What?  ARGH! I used my Google Foo to look up a solution.  I went through the steps and it started loading. Yay!  But, it just kept loading. For over an hour.  I knew I wasn't going to fix it last night as it was late and I was tired, so I left it alone.

I got on it around 1:30 today and worked on it.  I went into recovery mode (something I had done last night) but I did a few more things in there, installed a few things via the terminal and rebooted.  Success!  I had to play with it a bit and then went to download Journey.  Sadly, since my Linux runs on i386 and not 64 (Bit? I forget the specs but I know the 64) it won't work.  At least I can use the cloud version!  Oh well.

So, I got my Linux laptop up and running without losing any of my stuff.  I don't have anything on there that is not backed up somewhere else, but I didn't want to install fresh and have to download all my apps and set up my personal settings again. I was happy to get this going!  As I was still playing around on it and hoping to find a way to make Journey work (I never did!) my friend texted and asked if I'd like to meet him at a restaurant that is near to his workplace. I said, sure! I went and we ate and then I drove home. I stopped by the post office and checked my box.  I got two penpal letters from regular pals and a letter from a potential new pal. Yay!

As I was leaving my house to go meet my friend, I had been waiting on a package. I checked my package tracking app before I went to my car and it wasn't delivered yet. I go out, get in my car and notice the mail truck drive down the street.  I drove out and noticed my package.  He had come right after I checked the app! lol . I turned around and went back to my house (I had pulled out of the driveway and was heading up the street before I saw the package) . I grabbed it and carried it with me.  I knew it was swag from Twitter Insiders but I didn't know exactly what it was.  I was so excited to get home and open it up!

I joined Twitter Insiders well over a year ago and I join in on discussions there and they send out surveys every so often. I got picked to win some Twitter Insiders swag!  YAY! I love swag.  I got four really nice items.  A tote bag, a water bottle, a notebook, and a pen.  I love it all and I took a picture of my goodies to share:

20200306_232903

Nifty, eh?  I love swag!  I love that it is all useful things, too!  If you've read this blog for a while, you'll know how much I love notebooks and pens! It was a good day for mail.  Swag and penpal letters. :)

When your errands lead to Starbucks

So, I had to go to two places. One was Office Max to get some pens.  They have their brand ball point pens on a door buster price of .99 according to the website.  I love these pens. It's a 12 pack and it's usually over $2 a pack.  I had to pick up a few packs at this price.  I went and they were marked $1.49 but there was also a sign that said .99!  I took it to the register and showed the clerk and he rang them up for the price online.  The best thing?  They actually rang up with a discount off of that so I got them for .79 a box!  Yay! I bought four boxes.  That should keep me for a while.  They are the best writing pens.  The ink flows so smoothly.  I love them!  Here is the LINK if you want to check them out. They are the best pens ever.  Seriously!

So, that is all I got at Office Max.  I then went to Dollar Tree to see if they had any puzzles.  The last time I was in this particular Dollar Tree, they had a bunch . This time they had a lot less.  I was able to find three though!  I got those and a cute jack o' lantern hanging decoration and a big zipper pouch that is adorable.  It has coffee and donuts on it. So cute!  Here they are:

Cute, yes?  You'll see the puzzles as I do them.  I didn't start one today since I went out so late.  The Dollar Tree I went to and the Office Max are right at the Starbucks.  I figured a frappuccino would be a nice end to an errand trip!  It was!  I got that and headed home.  My car acted up a little, but not too badly. It also started up both times that I turned it off, so that was great!

Good Grief!

What a day.  I actually got to walk today and that was nice.  I came home and did some things around the house while waiting on a package.  The package was a Logitech wireless keyboard that I've wanted since last year's NaNo!  I ordered it two days ago on Amazon and it came today.  It's nice and I'm actually typing on it now.  I will use it mainly for my phone and tablet, but it's working grewat with my MacBook Pro.  it isn't working at all with my tablet at the moment.  I am going to work on that and see if I can't get it to work later.

When I was at Target the other week, I saw some laptop sleeves.  They were marked down to less than $5 and they were for a 11" size laptop. My MBP is 13 inch, so it wouldn't do me any good.  The keyboard is about that size though and I thought it would make a good case to keep it in when I'm not using it.  It's a snug fit, but it fits.  It will be good to have protection for it when not in use.  So, I go back to my car and try to start it to drive home.  No go.  I try a few more times and still nothing.  I waited awhile and tried again.  Nope.  Also, all of my attempts at trying to start it ran the battery down. ~_~;  Luckily, I had a friend come and give me a jump.  It started right up and I was able to get home.  While I was waiting for all this, I went back in Target and got a Cascara latte!  I was going to get one when I was in there but there was a line.  I decided I'd stop at the regular one on my way home.  I knew I wasn't going to stop again or not go straight home after I got my car started, so I just went in Target and got my latte.  They were out of almond milk and it wasn't as good as it usually is.  Oh well, it was something good and hot to drink. It was a bit chilly outside sitting in a car that wouldn't start!

So, I'm home now.  I have to do NaNo. I haven't done that yet.  I will work on that after I eat dinner.  I have no idea what I'm going to fix for dinner.  I guess I'll find out when I fix it. LOL . I did some more on my 2019 bullet journal.  I drew in lines on the rest of the trackers that needed them.  I also filled in my board game tracker. It looks so good! I love it! I hope to do a video and take some pictures of all the work I did on it soon.  Oh, I also fell in love with the blue Stabilo pen that I used to set up a lot of it.  It was also the pen I used to set up this year's NaNo tracker.  I looked online to see if I could order some of just this color of pens.  I found a site that had them for .60 each! I got five. LOL . I plan to use that color throughout the year in 2019 in that bujo.  I'll keep using the pen I have and put one of the new ones in my Stabilo roll that I got earlier this year.  The other three are backups. :P

Now, I need to start thinking about dinner and then getting prepared for NaNo.  I am really liking the feel of this keyboard. I might be using it tonight!–

Bullet journal and NaNoWriMo!

So, it was rainy, nasty and cold today. I didn't walk.  I did get a lot done on the set up of my 2019 bullet journal!  I have the beginnings of a wonderful bujo for 2019.  I have added a book tracker, order tracker, Starbucks store tracker, Coffee love page, board game tracker, and a lot more.  I love it so far.  Since it's a pretty blue, I've been using one of my blue Stabilo pens in it for the majority of things I've set up so far. It's looking great.  As soon as we get some decent weather, I'll film a video and take some pictures.  I would take pictures now, but not everything is completed yet.  I have trackers all the way done and some just need to have lines drawn.  I'll do that later. I have until December 31st after all! :P

So, as for NaNo.  I wrote over 2000 words tonight! Go me!  This book is "A Sea Of Zoms" . My two main characters went to the beach from their safe compound.  I realized that their trip was pretty short compared to the rest of the book, so I made a reason for them to go back for a week!  I started that part tonight.  They will actually arrive at the beach in tomorrow's writing.  This time, I plan to throw in some of my original ideas that I had for this book.  There will be more zoms than on the first trip! lol .

Currently, my bed is a total mess.  I have my current bullet journal, next year's bujo, and the last two years bujos on it.  Not to mention about 2394302849032 pens. LOL . I was getting inspiration from my old bujos and I needed this years to see how i did a few trackers.  I love the boardgame tracker.  It's based on the one I made in the bujo before the current one. It's going to be even better than that one.  I did the whole Monopoly board again to be the tracker. I think it looks great so far.  I need to take my old tracker and look at my games. I know I've added at least one Monopoly set since I had that tracker and a card game or two, too!

Here is my original tracker in my old bujo:

Puppy Breath!!!!!

My friend recently got a puppy.  I hadn't seen it until today.  I was coming back from my walk and I saw her in the yard. I thought she was walking Cocoa the mini wiener dog that I love so much, but it was the puppy.  Since I haven't met him yet, I had to go see.  He has puppy breath and he is adorable!  He is a Boxer pup and so cute.  He whined when I left. Awww! I told her I was going to steal him. lol

I drove down to the post office this evening after going to McDonald's.  I had an alert on my phone that through the McDonald's app, you could get any medium McCafe beverage for FREE with a $1 order!  I decided to treat myself to a fry. :P  I used mobile payment for the first time there. It was pretty cool.  I ordered and paid.  I typed which 'bay' I was in and they brought my order out to me.  Pretty neat.

Since I was out, I went to the post office.  I had seven letters. YIKES!  I already have four to write and I have exactly 8 stamps.  HELP!!!!! lol  I am going to write the four I already have tonight or tomorrow and then I'll get to the others.  I hope to get some stamps asap!

I am STILL waiting on my payment to clear at Fingerhut so they will ship my Fitbit.  I'm getting so impatient.  I wish I had the money to order one from Fitbit themselves. I would probably already have it. I hate waiting.  I swear I've had other things clear the bank that have come out after that transaction.  So annoying!  If I had anything to sell, I would certainly do it.  I thought at one time of opening an Etsy shop, but I need a sewing machine if I want to do anything with fabric.  I can do repairs on my stuff, but to create something, I'd want a sewing machine!

I wish I still had some stuff to sell on Ebay.  Any extra money would help me a lot.  I shouldn't have gotten anything today from McDonald's, but the free coffee was too tempting! :p  I have money on my Starbucks card, so I'm covered there.  I hope to get over there soon.  I haven't had any since the beach trip.  I am hoping they have cascara syrup.  I want a cascara latte!

I got in a good walk today and then came home and did my workouts. I'm glad it was arm day, because my poor butt is still sore from yesterday's butt workouts. lol  OUCH!  I finished the book I was reading last night and started on a book about Ted Bundy. I've read many books about him, but not this one.  It's good so far.

OH! I forgot to mention.  Sometime ago, I found a cute double pencil / pen case on Amazon that I loved.  It was an Adventure Time pen case with Finn and Jake on it.  I loved it but it was over twenty dollars and that didn't include shipping!  I recently found it on ebay by accident and I ordered it. I came today and it's so cute!  Here is a couple of pictures:

French book and a pen.

Yesterday, I received a book that I ordered from Amazon. It's Easy French Step by Step.  I think I mentioned this yesterday but didn't mention the name of the book.  It's pretty cool.  I'm going to get one of my many notebooks and keep it with it to write notes.  I just have decide if I want to use a one subject notebook or a bigger one.

Today, I got a dual tip pen that I ordered.  The color of the cap is blueish and the color is teal, but the color of the actual pen when you write with it is more green.  I'm not really happy about that.  I wanted the ink to look like the cap.  Oh well.  It's got a calligraphy tip on one end, and a brush tip on the other.  I wanted a blue calligraphy marker.  This is too green.  It's nicely made though.  It's made my ZIG memory system.  I will look and see if they have the color I really wanted.

My favorite calligraphy makers are the Faber-Castell ones but I can only find them in the three colors I have.  Black, brown, and burgandy.  I really want a blue one!  I'll keep my eye out for what I'm looking for.  The tips on the Faber-Castell ones are so nice.  I use my black one a lot. Maybe I'll find one in another brand.

Back on track

With my internet back, I got back on track today.  I got up and after breakfast, I went for my walk.  I got back from it and had time to relax with a cup of coffee before doing my workouts.  I did those and then played some Pocket Camp  before fixing lunch.  After lunch, I played more Pocket Camp and then worked on straightening up an area of my room that needed it. It's all done and looks so much better!  I wanted to do that.  It's an area that doesn't get used a lot, so it gets cluttered and dusty.  I got rid of the clutter, organized everything, dusted, and swept.  It's nice now.

I was relaxing after that and playing more Pocket Camp when my friend texted and asked if I want to go eat.  I did, so we did.  After we ate, we went to Ollie's and he got some things he needed.  He got me a paper cutter.  I found one that was only twenty dollars.  I was happy.  I've been wanting one like this.  I also got a journal.  I didn't need another journal, but this one is actual graph paper and it's blue with a pencil on the front. Here is my haul from Ollies:

20171230_211735
20171230_211735

I have the new bigger cutter on my craft cart with my smaller cutter and some sharpies. ^_^ It will be much easier to cut larger stacks of paper with this cutter than my little one.  I've wanted one for a while now and I was happy to see this one in Ollie's!

Saturday and Starbucks!

I decided today that I should take my pen pal letters to Starbucks this afternoon.   I was hoping they wouldn't be too busy and I'd be able to get a seat.  They weren't, and I did!  I sat at one of the little tables.  My favorite table was taken.  I wrote all but one of my letters and was on the last one when I decided to move to the comfy chairs for a bit.  I had gotten there and saw my favorite table open up.  I went and got it and spent the rest of the time there. ^_^  I was happy to get to sit in my favorite spot one last time.  Last time? You ask.  Well, this particular location is moving a short distance away into a larger location.  They will be closing at 2pm on the 31st and won't re-open in the new location until August 4th.  I'm glad I went as I didn't know they were moving so soon.  I got to sit in my favorite comfy chair once more and at my favorite table. That was nice!

Also, while I was there, I got an extra drink for free!  One of the regulars ordered his drinks and they were wrong somehow.  I don't know the details.  He gave one to a lady that was at the counter and asked around if anyone wanted the other.  It was a caramel frappuccino.  I said, yes! LOL!  I had long since finished my cascara latte, so this was a nice surprise!  I enjoyed it immensely.  I shouldn't have had it as I had had a chocolate chip cookie, but free Starbucks! LOL

I got all my letters written.  I hand wrote all of them.  I just need to get them in envelopes and ready to mail.  I'll do that after I finish typing this.  I did take quite a lot of pictures of Starbucks while I was there.  I'm going to miss this location.  It was my first Starbucks!  I've grown so fond of it.  I'm sure I'll learn to love the new location too, but it won't be the same!  Yes, I took my bullet journal with me. :)

Today's workouts were intense.  It was arm day so that part wasn't so bad. The cardio video to open the workouts?  The #100burpeeburnout YIKES!  I survived.  I think that was the main reason I figured Starbucks would be a good idea!  After all the stress lately and then that, Starbucks was necessary. :P

I hope to get down to the post office tomorrow to mail these letters and check my box.  I hope I have more letters. That would be cool.  Of course if there are more than 9 that might be a bad thing! LOL!

More views

Okay, so here is the notebook with the pen in the front and a view of one of the inside pages.  I think this will be perfect for my French learning.  I looked up the info inside and the codes are for  http://www.stkrit.com  It's probably something I won't use for this notebook, but I might use for something else.  It looks pretty neat!  Here is the notebook cover and the inside:
