Thrift finds

So, I promised to do a thrift finds update today and here it is! I took a picture of everything I got to share and a few individual things too. Here is the entire haul:

PXL_20220827_210629826_2

From top left to right on each row: Sherpani purse, Fossil purse, Uniden scanner/weather radio, Eton emergency radio, (will go into detail further down), a Starbucks mug with lid, two Starbucks tumblers, five vintage Whitman brand card games, and finally season two of the Simpsons! They also had season one, but I already have it. Fun finds. Here are some closer shots of three of the items:

This is my second Sherpani bag. I got one exactly like this in green with a different picture on the front in the Spring at another Greensboro Goodwill! I used it as a beach bag on my last beach trip and I loved it. I saw this and saw it was the same brand and the same purse so I got it. The only difference is that this one still has the safety pin tag and my other one was missing it.  The Starbucks things are self-explanatory! :p

The Eton radio was a great find! It has a crank for when you don't have power, it's also able to be charged with solar or by a USB cord and your computer. It's got AM/FM bands and all the weather bands. Very cool. Oh, did I mention it also doubles as a cell phone power bank? Did I mention the flashlight? Such a cool find. These go for $40 online, I paid $10 for mine and it was still new in the box. it had the cord, the manual, and even the registration card. :D  I love it. I noticed it in the case because it is Eton and that is the brand of my Shortwave radio.  I'm very happy with it and it works great! I will probably put it in my bug-out bag that I haven't started yet. I have several things for it and a sturdy bag for it all, I just haven't gotten around to it. Right now I only have Sterno, a multi-tool, and this cool radio. It will also be a handy thing to have if we have power outages this fall or winter. :)

I'm happy with my finds. It was a good trip. We went to eight different Goodwill stores all in Greensboro.  We also went to another thrift store we saw while we were out but it was waaay overpriced! I was disappointed, but because they had four of five Starbucks tumblers I would have liked to have, but they priced them (ad everything else I liked) too high!

Trail and thrift!

My friend texted me today and asked if I wanted to do our thrifting in Reidsville, NC only. I did, so we headed over there after he got off work.  We went to the Salvation Army store after eating at Bojangles (yummy).  I found some notecards, some tea lights, some little sequin Christmas patch thingees, Big Boggle (complete!) and I think that was all. At Goodwill, I found two Starbucks tumblers, some dishwashing gloves (hey they were cheap and brand new in the package), and, a Life board game. Not any Life board game, a Simpsons-based one! :D  It's complete except for one of the little cars. Everything else is there.  Very cool find! I snatched that right up and it definitely went home with me! :) It was a good haul.

So, after we left there, we decided to go look for a trail that we have been meaning to go look for.  We went to find it and did! Since we were there, we walked on it just a little bit.  It looks pretty nice from what we saw of it. I picked up a brochure and the entire trail is only 1.7 miles. It's a loop.  I want to go back and walk the entire thing. I just want to go in the correct clothes and shoes for walking. Speaking of shoes, I forgot that I found a nice pair of New Balance in Goodwill. I knew I was forgetting something! They are a size bigger than my usual size, but they fit fine and they are comfy!  They are going to replace my daily shoes that are getting so worn out.

Here are a couple of pictures I took on the trail:

Thrifting, yes, big haul, no.

We did a thrift trip today. We went to Reidsville to Salvation Army and Goodwill. I didn't buy anything in SA, but I found a cool Starbucks tumbler from 2006 in Goodwill! :) I add pictures at the end of this post.  From there, we went to the little restaurant we found on Friday in Stokesdale and ate.  When then went to the Goodwill in Mayodan. I found a box of Rolodex cards that fit the little Rolodex I bought Friday. It has 1000 in it, so I should not run out anytime soon! :p That was a whole dollar, too! We left there and headed to Eden.  Since we were in Eden, we stopped by the Goodwill there. There were two Sak bags and a Fossil wallet. I didn't get any of those though as I was already low on cash and I couldn't see spending that much.  The bags were nice but not really my style. The wallet I would have gotten just because it was Fossil. It really wasn't one I would use.  The only thing I bought in there was a set of whiteboard markers.  I never seem to have a working whiteboard marker when I need it.  This was a pack of ten with some cool colors other than the usual blue, green, red, and black. :) It was a decent little trip and my friend was nice enough to fill my car up when we got back since we've taken two thrifting trips since I filled it up recently. :)

I just realized that you can see Homer going, "Whoo Hoo!" in the background. He must like my tumbler. :p

Thrifting for me, thrifting for you. I'll have a thrift, you have one toooooooo!

I bet you know what I did today! LOL!  I found two amazing finds.  We went to Reidsville and at the Salvation Army store, I found a few little things but my friend walked over and showed me a little thermal printer.  It was brand new in the box. It makes little pictures on thermal paper. You can also buy sticker paper for it. It's nifty!  It was $3!  It retails for $37. on Amazon. Whee!  After Reidsville, we went to Mayodan NC to try a new Goodwill we haven't been to before. I found a candle and a box of cards there.  The next great deal was in Martinsville.  We went there after Mayodan and I found a single cup coffee maker new in box for $4.00!!  I found it online for $69.  It takes K-cups or you can use the reusable filter that comes with it. It's so cute!  My friend even suggested it would be good for me to carry to the beach in case there were no coffee makers. Neat!

I've played with the little printer and it's fun! It has settings in the app where you can create a little to-do list and print it out.  It's so nifty! I love finds like that. The other things I got were a three-wick candle, (it smells sooooooo good), a Christmas light tester, a mug, an old Yahtzee game, a pack of vintage cups, a kindle cover (sadly it's too big!), and a snowman doorstopper.  It was a pretty good trip.  The coffee maker and the little printer being phenomenal deals!

Here is the little printer:

I love it and I put a set of printer rolls on my wish list at Amazon. :p The prints I've done so far are very cute. It's definitely going to be used in journaling.  All I had to do was search for the app on Android, download it and pair it via Bluetooth to the printer and I was able to start using it asap!

Here is a sample of the print.  The first is a sample to-do list that I made and the second is an artistic rendering of a picture of a Starbucks cup I took some time ago.

Pretty nifty, eh?  It was a great thrifting trip.

Homer Simpson? Yes, please!

I recently applied to take over an abandoned subreddit that was named r/HomerSimpson . I got notification today that I got my wish! I am not the mod for r/HomerSimpson   Yay!  I have made it into a Homer Simpson fan subreddit.  I hope to grow it.  It will be fun to have my own sub. :)

I finished that puzzle today.  Thank goodness I took a picture of it before I tried to flip it to preserve it.  I tried several different things and several different ways.  I finally think I'm going to be able to accomplish it. I go to flip and it falls apart.  Dammit!   Oh well, it was very pretty and I might work it again someday.  The pieces were very loose and that is why it fell apart so easily.  Here is the beauty before it fell into pieces.  I now have it in a Ziploc bag in the original box:

Yikes!

So I had to run to the store and swap out my out of date hot dogs and pick up a few things I needed.  They are calling for bad weather tomorrow.  Nothing major, just a little ice and rain in the morning.  It won't amount to anything, but that doesn't mean everyone in the city doesn't panic and rush to the grocery store.  I really should have waited to go tomorrow, but I just ran down and got what I needed. It wasn't too bad and I got through and came back home.

I finished the puzzle I started yesterday. It's missing a piece. ~_~;  Seriously!  I am hoping I just dropped it and it will turn up.  It's so frustrating to have a brand new puzzle with missing pieces!  Ahh!

Now, for the fun stuff!  I have had a mouse pad since the 90's. It is my favorite mouse pad ever, but it had gotten old and worn out. I didn't toss it, but I put it aside.  I starting searching eBay for another one.  Well, I found one a few days ago.  They had it for $20 with $5 shipping.  I wanted it, but that was more than I wanted to pay.  They did have 'make an offer' so I figures, why not?  I send an offer of $15 so it would be $20 shipped.  The seller accepted and said if I paid he'd ship that day.  This was Saturday. I paid and he shipped.  It came today.  It's brand new still in the package and I love it.  What is the hollowed mouse pad you ask? Homer Simpson!  This was always my favorite mouse pad and I was very sad when mine got so dirty and worn out.  Now I have a new one to replace it. ^_^   I'll post the puzzle and my Homie below! :p

Slow, slow, slow

That is how that puzzle is going.  It's missing a lot of pieces. It's very upsetting.  I am still going to try to finish it.  I have all the pieces out on my white board now and I can see that there are several that are missing.  I'm hoping when it's all done that it won't be too bad, but so far, it's quite a lot!

I meant to get so much stuff done today and I did nothing. I only worked on the puzzle. You can see my progress here:

Again, I did buy it with another old puzzle, so I'm hoping that any missing pieces are in the other box. I also hope the other puzzle is more complete!

Yesterday, I ran to the library and checked out The Simpsons movie and three books. I watched the movie last night and I know I've seen it before, but I remembered NONE of it.  The only thing that sparked a memory was Spider Pig and Bart's "Doodle". lol  After watching it, I kept wondering if I actually HAD seen it before.  I'm still not sure.  It is a twelve year old movie, so there is that.  Who knows, not me!

It's done!

What is done, you ask?  Well, my room.  I decided to change it around and I did that this afternoon.  It took longer than I planned, but it's done.  I am so sore from moving the heavy furniture.  Also, the dust under things was horrible.  I cleaned the heck out of everything.  Everything gets so dusty when the furniture stays in one place for too long.  I cleaned all that out and it was nuts.  I'm glad it's done.  I hate all that dust, but it's all cleaned up now. My arms and back are so sore.

I got in my walk today.  It was sunny and not too cold.  It was in the mid 50's and I actually walked without my jacket.  It's supposed to be in the 40's tomorrow, so no short sleeves!  The day after that, we are under a winter weather watch.  I think it's only supposed to be freezing rain. If that is the case, I'll miss another day walking.  Maybe I can convince myself to use the treadmill.

I am almost done re-watching the Simpsons episodes.  I just watched one where Homer made me laugh out loud, literally.  He said, "Why would I want to go to a strip club? I'm married to a naked lady."  Homer is hilarious.  When I get through all the episodes, I am not sure what I'll watch next.  Maybe I'll watch LOST again.

Simpsons fun

So, I'm working my way through all of the Simpson's episodes on Fox Now.  It's been fun.  I love the animation in the old shows. You know, when they were still hand drawn.  I think it looked better than it does now.  They had more personality.  Oh well, I still enjoy the current shows.  I mean, I've only watched the show since it was a short on the Tracy Ullman show.

Today's walk was even colder than yesterday.  At least it wasn't windy like yesterday.  I don't think I could have taken that!  I just checked the weather for tomorrow and it's supposed to be pretty much what it was today.  I'll bundle up again and I'll be okay.

Bullet Journal goodies!

So, while I was at the beach, I ordered a couple of things from Amazon to arrive today.  That way I would have something to look forward to when I came back.  What did I get?  Well, I got a new Leuchtturm1917 for my 2019 bullet journal.  It's Ice blue and gorgeous!  I also bought a cool pack of brush pens that included their own case!  Look at my goodies:

The last picture is of the new Leuchtturm and the current one. Look at how fat my current one is! LOL!  I can't wait to set up the new one for 2019!  It's going to be pretty cool.  In other cool news, I went to a really neat place at Myrtle Beach....

20180908_191106

This was seriously cool!  I have to share the top of my receipt with you.  Yes, I bought stuff. LOL Two Homer pins, a Maggie pin, a Lisa pin, and a Marge pin.  Also a Homer keychain.  I didn't see a Bart pin with the others.  Here is the top of my receipt!

I didn't walk or do my workouts today. I took a day off to recover from the beach trip. I did mow and do my shopping.  I also went to Starbucks because I was one trip away from a star dash.  I made it! That gave me enough stars for another free drink.  I now have three on my card. LOL!  I also checked the Starbucks at Target while out and was glad I did.  They had some summer die cut gift cards that I didn't have. YAY!

Monday Madness!

So, I didn't go for my walk at the usual time today.  I wanted to!  I  had an appointment at my doctor's office at 1:30, so I didn't have time to get in my walk.  I went to my appointment and then ran by a box to mail my letters.  After that, I came home and relaxed until time to fix lunch.  I had lunch and did a few things and then I decided to get my walk in.  I had almost made up my mind to skip everything, but I didn't!

I got in my normal walk and came home.  I saw more dogs than I usually do on my earlier walk.  That was cool!  I came home and relaxed for a just a bit and then did my workouts for today.  I then did my French lesson.

I worked on my bullet journal.  I got my habit tracker ready for April and I went ahead and did next week's layout so it will be ready.  I have the habit tracker on one page and the other page is going to either be a calendar, or something else.  I haven't decided yet.  Back in February, I tried to draw a calendar and it was so bad that I printed one out and covered it up! LOL!  I'm not sure if I'm ready to try another calendar. :p

I didn't sleep well last night as I usually don't when I have an appointment or anything that interferes with my regular schedule.  I'm hoping tonight will be better.  I want to play some more Pocket Camp before bed, too!  I'm enjoying the fishing event.  It's lots of fun!  I love it when I catch two at once.

In other news, Hulu FINALLY had a new episode of The Simpsons on today. I don't know why the show has been on hiatus for so long.  Just as I thought they would, they had a dedication to Stephen Hawking at the end. <3

On a roll....

A Hawaiian roll would be good right now.  LOL No, not that kind of roll, unfortunately.  I'm on a roll today. I did my usual morning routine and then had breakfast.  I then got up and go dressed and headed out for my walk to the bank and to the grocery store.  I went to the bank and cashed my check.  I left there and went to Rose's and picked up a few things and then went to Food Lion and got one thing.  I headed back home then as I it was a dairy item and I didn't want to keep it out too long.

I got home and realized I had some time to relax a bit before my workouts.  I went on Hulu and saw that the newest Simpsons episode was up.  IT was the Treehouse of Horror one and I was happy to see it.  They usually air it a lot earlier in the month.  I watched that and then did my workouts.  It was a PIIT style workout and I was going, "Oh, this isn't so bad." On the first round.  Let's just say by the end, I was like.... I shouldn't have said that! LOL!  I was all sweaty and tired.  Luckily, I had a few minutes to cool down and relax before going to fix lunch!  I just had lunch actually.  It was good!

I know I usually post later in the day, well, except when I am at the beach! I wanted to get a blog post done while I was sitting down and relaxing for a bit.  I may take another walk tonight, I'm not sure yet.  We'll see! ^_^ On my earlier walk, I caught another Pikachu with Witch hat.  YAY! I will evolve him into a Raichu so I'll have one of each with a hat. :p

Early mornings at the beach!

So, I'm up.  I actually slept okay last night. Not great, but a lot better than the last two nights!  I had a hard time getting comfortable on the bed.  I hate beds away from home. I finally did get to sleep.  I got woken up a few times throughout the night, but luckily, I was able to go right back to sleep.  I know I was really tired!

I went out on the balcony to take a picture to share.  I'll share more in other posts as I'm more awake and with it. lol  I'm not sure what I'm doing today.  I might be walking to the Pavilion area, or I may save it for another day.  Since it's a holiday, I'll probably hold off on that! :P

Here is a picture I took of the beach this morning 20170904_094506

A gorgeous day here!  I will tell you how tired I was this morning.  OH! Back story! LOL  So, I find that the room has coffee makers.  Great!  I also see no coffee.  Umm... so, I go ask at the desk.  They don't provide coffee.  WHAT?????  If you know me, that won't do!  I look up groceries stores nearby on Google maps.  I see that there is a Food Lion one mile away.  My friend that drove all the way down here doesn't want to drive back out.  In fact, he was going to order us pizza for dinner!  So, I told him what I wanted and said I'd walk to the Food Lion.  I got there and got some of these Maxwell House things that are already in a filter.  I figured if there were any I didn't use, I'd just tear open the filters and put it in with my coffee at home.  I use a re-usable filter with my Keurig, so I just usually buy ground coffee at home.  So,, I walked two miles round trip just to get coffee! LOL!  The pizza arrived while I was on the way back, but it was still warm when I got here.  I crashed with it on the balcony and ate a few slices.  I then waited a bit ot have more. I wanted them all then, but I was so hot.

So, that is the backstory of the coffee! So, this morning, I get ready to make coffee!  I had filled it with water last night so that would be ready to go.  I turn it on and nothing happens.  Me:????  OH! I helps if you plug it in! :P  I do that and it starts going and I realize that it's clear.  Yes, I forgot to put the filter pack in. LOL  I had to turn it off, waiti until it finished a few drips and refill with water and put the filter in.  I finally have my coffee now so I should be okay for a while! :D Since I had to walk all that way to Food Lion to get coffee, I grabbed a bottle of that one touch latte while I was in there.  It makes it so yum!

I may post again tonight about my day.  We'll see.  I'm not even sure what I'm doing yet.  I want to get out my bullet journal and work on it a bit.  I'm not sure when my friend will wake up  He may want to go have breakfast.  We ate at a place on our last day here in June and it has a really good breakfast buffet..  It's Lenny's Country Kitchen.  I told him that we needed to go early so we could see Carl and Homer, too! :p
