Letters and lattes...

Well, letters, no lattes. Phooey!  I got all of my pen pal letters written today and mailed!  Whoo hoo! I'm so glad to have them done.  I got only one at the post office, so I'm now all caught up and have a new one.  It was a good thing to get them all done.  I went to the car wash while out and washed my car.  It needed a fresh wash.  I was going to do it here, but since I was already out, I went ahead and got it done.  I was tempted to go to Starbucks, but I was good and didn't go.

When I was in the car wash, I took a picture of the pretty rainbow foam.  I always call it unicorn pee. :p. It's pretty, but this time it didn't go on very thick.

Exciting, isn't it? :p

It's my birthday!

What did I do to celebrate?  I went to mail back my old phone.  I checked my box and had some letters.  I washed my car because it needed it and I was too lazy to do it at home! I left there and went to Starbucks.  I got my birthday drink.  I sipped on it and went to the park to sit by my favorite tree for a bit. I hung out in the park a bit and then went and got gas for my car.  I filled it up / topped it off and it was only $8 so that was nice.  I did take some pictures.  Two in the post office and one of the darkening sky when I was sitting in the park.

I thought it was going to rain, but it never did. The sky was pretty though!  My friend texted me from work and said he was bringing by a hoagie from a local place.  Steak and cheese. It was delicious!  It was a good birthday lunch.  What's for dinner?  My favorite, hash brown casserole! :D. Yum.  That is too delicious meals today.  The Starbucks was pretty darn good, too! :p

Hmmm

Well, I didn't get my inspection sticker today.  I went but he was really busy and said if I came back tomorrow he'd work me in.  I will head back up there tomorrow and get it done.  I did get by the post office while I was out though.  I picked up a stack of mail and was able to get a 'book' of stamps.  It was actually a sheet of stamps, but there you go!  Now I can get my letters written and mail them out.

I should have worked on them today, but I didn't get around to it.  I had to go back out for a quick errand this weekend and ended up riding around a bit. I couldn't help myself. :) It's nice to not worry about the car cutting off, overheating, etc!

In other news, I need to get one of my mowers going so I can get the front lawn mown.  The back doesn't really need it and even if it did, I'm not worried about it as no one can see it.  The front is still not horrible, but it's getting shaggy and I don't like that! I'll see what I can do tomorrow after I get my sticker.

Monday...right?

Yes, it's Monday.  I got my pen pal letters done today! Yay!  I also got them all mailed off.  I had three new ones in my box.  Not new pals, but new letters from old pals.  lol

I was thinking of Starbucks while out, but it was rainy and bleah out, so I just came home after the post office.  I came home to a bit of a mess. The new container I had in the closet to catch the drips was working well.  The old one tipped and fell out on the floor. UGH!  I cleaned that all up and put it back.  I put another heavy item in there to keep it from tipping again.  I hope that helps.  It's supposed to rain for days.  BOO!

I did take a picture while I was in the post office.  I love the old boxes they have.  There are little windows on most of the boxes so you can see if you have mail or not.  I love this old building.  It's very vintage. I just wish they had lockers.  At my old post office location, if you go something too big for your box, you got a key.  It would open a locker and you could just pick up whatever it was that didn't fit in the box.  It was quite convenient.

Wednesday afternoon post later...

So, it's cleared off quite a bit here.  The sky is still somewhat cloudy, but the sun has come out.  People are back on the beach all up and down it.  I took a few pictures to share.  It is pleasant out here and I'm debating on if I want to walk on the beach now or not.  I am not sure if it will rain again tonight.  I don't want to miss a walk on the beach today because of rain. We'll see how it goes.  Right now I'm going to sit here and enjoy this lovely breeze.

Letters but no lattes!

I sat down today and got my letters written and then went to mail them off. It's quite hot outside today.  I should have known when I was trying to sleep last night and it was so warm that I had to turn the air conditioning on!  It's been on all day today, too!  I was walking out the door to mail my letters and realized that one of them didn't have a stamp.  I ran back into the house and got a stamp and then went back to my car.  I drove down to the post office and ran in. I dropped my letters off and then checked my box.  I had five more letters waiting.  Well, four that I'll actually answer.  The fifth was from an inmate. ~_~;  I used to write a few of them, but they always get the idea that we are in a relationship and that is not going to happen. I don't want to date anyone on the outside either. LOL!

I had thought about going by Starbucks while I was out because I have a bunch of stars and I could have gotten a free drink, but I figured with it being Saturday, they would be really busy so I skipped it!  Plus it was hot and I have no air. I prefer hot coffee and today was not the day. If I had air, yes, but I don't.  Oh well! My stars don't run out anytime soon, so I'm good!

Just a few more

I added a few words to my book today.  I had a day where I forgot to add something and I went back and did that today and updated my word count.  Now, if I could just get my 50,000 badge! AHHHH!

I hope to get to my new stack of letters in the next few days. I ordered some stamps online and they came today! Yay!  I was going to order from USPS which I usually do, but it would have taken longer. I went on eBay and there are a lot of people selling stamps on there!  I got two 10 stamp books for the regular retail price with free shipping, so I did that.  When I don't get them online, I get them at the drug store as they sell them.  I really didn't want to go to CVS just for stamps, so I got them online.  Easy peasy!

No puzzle today

Yes, I didn't start a puzzle today.  I meant to, but I was working on my Linux laptop longer than I planned.  Last night, I was going to see bout getting out my Linux laptop and putting Journey on it. It's the journal app I used on my Android phone, my MacBook Pro, and online.  I saw where it said you could download a Linux version.  I was excited so I got the laptop out last night, plugged it in and booted it.  It booted and then I got an error message about missing packages.  What?  ARGH! I used my Google Foo to look up a solution.  I went through the steps and it started loading. Yay!  But, it just kept loading. For over an hour.  I knew I wasn't going to fix it last night as it was late and I was tired, so I left it alone.

I got on it around 1:30 today and worked on it.  I went into recovery mode (something I had done last night) but I did a few more things in there, installed a few things via the terminal and rebooted.  Success!  I had to play with it a bit and then went to download Journey.  Sadly, since my Linux runs on i386 and not 64 (Bit? I forget the specs but I know the 64) it won't work.  At least I can use the cloud version!  Oh well.

So, I got my Linux laptop up and running without losing any of my stuff.  I don't have anything on there that is not backed up somewhere else, but I didn't want to install fresh and have to download all my apps and set up my personal settings again. I was happy to get this going!  As I was still playing around on it and hoping to find a way to make Journey work (I never did!) my friend texted and asked if I'd like to meet him at a restaurant that is near to his workplace. I said, sure! I went and we ate and then I drove home. I stopped by the post office and checked my box.  I got two penpal letters from regular pals and a letter from a potential new pal. Yay!

As I was leaving my house to go meet my friend, I had been waiting on a package. I checked my package tracking app before I went to my car and it wasn't delivered yet. I go out, get in my car and notice the mail truck drive down the street.  I drove out and noticed my package.  He had come right after I checked the app! lol . I turned around and went back to my house (I had pulled out of the driveway and was heading up the street before I saw the package) . I grabbed it and carried it with me.  I knew it was swag from Twitter Insiders but I didn't know exactly what it was.  I was so excited to get home and open it up!

I joined Twitter Insiders well over a year ago and I join in on discussions there and they send out surveys every so often. I got picked to win some Twitter Insiders swag!  YAY! I love swag.  I got four really nice items.  A tote bag, a water bottle, a notebook, and a pen.  I love it all and I took a picture of my goodies to share:

Nifty, eh?  I love swag!  I love that it is all useful things, too!  If you've read this blog for a while, you'll know how much I love notebooks and pens! It was a good day for mail.  Swag and penpal letters. :)

Weird and tired.

So, this morning, I was in a dream so intense that when my Fitbit alarm went off, I noticed it but it was in the dream so it didn't wake me up! LOL It went off again ten minutes later and that woke me up, sort of.  I was still so out of it and tired.  It took me another ten minutes to get up! Sheesh!  I finally did though.

I needed to run out and mail a card and I wanted to get some milk.  The one month I go grocery shopping and don't get milk with my groceries is, of course, going to be when I need some! I went to a local store that is old fashioned and pretty much like a step back in time.  It's a neat store.  They have a butcher on-site and they have great meats.  I was able to get a couple of slice of country ham.  They sell the big smoked hams and they sell small packs of one or two or sometimes three slices.  I can't eat a whole ham myself. Well, I could, but... LOL!   Anyway!  I like to get the ham slices.  I got those and a few other things I needed and there is a post office drop box at the edge of their parking lot, so I was able to mail my card too!

I wanted to go to the post office downtown today and check my box, but when I realized I had planned to go get milk and ham at the store, I knew I could mail my card so I just did that instead.  Sometimes this store has Little Debbie Devil squares. (MY FAVORITE!!!!!) but they didn't have any today. Phooey!

I finished my puzzle today and I'm sad to say that one of the pieces was missing! :(  I am hoping that I just dropped it and I will spot it, but I don't think so.  It's a cute puzzle. It makes me sad to be missing a piece!  Anyway, here is the 'completed' puzzle:

Moving spiders.....

How about that for a title!  I don't think I mentioned it, but the Lily Bloom purse I posted yesterday came on Monday.  I had to chase the mail carrier down to get it!  It was due to arrive along with a week's worth of accumulated mail.  I got notification that my package had been delivered, so I went out and looked.  Nothing.  No package, no mail, nothing.  I go and check the back door just in case.  Once the UPS guy left stuff there.  I didn't figure this would happen with USPS but who knows?  Nope, nothing.

I dress and get in my car and go looking for the mail carrier.  I find the mail truck on the next street and pull up across from it. The carrier comes from the house back to her truck and I tell her that I am from 'my street' and I had a package that said 'delivered' but I didn't get anything.  She said that there was a spider so she didn't deliver my mail.  REALLY!?  It took everything in me not to roll my eyes at her.  I just took my mail.  I told her that I saw it when I went out to look for my mail and as soon as I got near it, it ran away and would probably have done the same with her.

So, I got my mail.  I didn't get any mail yesterday, but I wasn't expecting any.  Today, I got an email from Informed Delivery so I knew I was going to get mail today.  I went out and captured the spider and moved him to another part of the porch.  His web was a bit tattered, so I didn't feel as bad as I would have.  I tore it the rest of the way down and apologized to the spider! lol  If the mail carrier can't deal with spiders, they need another line of work!

Anyway!  I got my mail today with no issues.  I hope my spider builds another web somewhere else. It was cool to watch him.  He was a pretty good size one, too.  I started a new puzzle today. I didn't get a lot done, but I got a good portion.  The last one was a  location in Italy and this one is too! :) So pretty!  Enjoy my progress.
